Computer Supported Collaborative Work (CSCW) is a new research field. With the dramatic development of Internet, more and more interest is put on it by researchers at home or abroad. Many CSCW products appearing continuously change the status of computer using from solving problems purely to the basic information facilities which help people's intercommunication and cooperation. Those research and developing works of CSCW will affect our work, study and life deeply in the future. CSCW technology is such kind of science that combines wide fields such as computer network communication, parallel and distributed process, database, multimedia, moreover, it even concerns behavior science, psychology, art and philosophy etc. More and more applications of CSCW appear in many fields of the society. Computer supported collaborative design (CSCD) is an application of CSCW in the field of design. Facing with the increasing demands for CSCD using in oil field surface engineering, a new CSCD system is put forward in this thesis according to the network environment. During the design and implementation of this system, many useful exploration and practice are made on CSCD. Moreover, some creative design and implementation are accomplished on critical technologies of CSCD such as personel management, project management, document sharing, entry control, control of workflow. Appreciable achievement are gained as a result. In this thesis, it's described in detail how the Surface Engineering CSCD System for Oil Field is designed and implemented. Introductions of CSCW and CSCD are briefly described in chapter one.Chapter two introduces the work mode and main frame of CSCW together with CSCD. In chapter three analysis and total design of our system are described and in chapter four further details are given out. Critical technologies are introduced in the next chapter. At last, the significance of this system is summarized, at the same time, it is pointed out what should be done in the near future to optimize the system.
