The popularization and application of Internet technologies have brought about a revolution in the field of network across the world, the result of which was the emergence of the information highway, gigabit network technologies. With the rapid expansion of the network bandwidth, the development of various trades is increasingly related to network technology application. Nowadays the network has already reached almost every corner of the globe and involved almost every trade in the world, and its application has extended from its original simple peer-to-peer text communication to multi-media communication including the transmission of data, pictures, cartoons, voice and video, and so on. The expansion of network application, the amount of communication data, the scope of data transmission and the rapid increase of network users require more bandwidth of the network. Yet the present-day bandwidth falls short of such demands. Therefore, it is the "hot-spot" of research for scientists and engineering technicians from all countries to seek other means of network communication to ease the pressure brought about by the application of network technologies.Data broadcast technology is a new technology in the field of radio and TV. With this technology, the traditional radio and TV resources will be made effective use, comprehensive data services based on its CATV network resources will be offered. The contradiction between demand and supply can be eased, thus the quality of network transmission will be improved. However, it must be pointed out that the traditional data broadcast technology has the shortcomings either its application or the CATV itself as it is disconnected with, even separated from, the IP network. Therefore, the research of information transmission platform using the IP network will be effectively combined with the data broadcast network and provide reliable services to the users will produce great social and economic benefits.The Agent technology, as a new artificial intelligence technology, can effectively solved the complex problems of auto control and auto service, and has been applied successfully in some fields. In the paper, it is mainly discussed that how the multi-agent technology is being introduced into the information system consisting of data broadcasting and IP network, and how a reliable information platform will be built, which can provide various kinds of information service, and which can transmit information cross-net in a convenient and efficient manner and can thus guarantee reliable user services, based on the characteristics of the multi-agent technology. The paper includes the following main contents and creative points:1. It is described in detail that the current situation about the theory research and application of Agent technology, the latest developments and problems in the data broadcasting system are introduced, and, a solution to such problems based on this technology is offered.2. It is given out that a multi-agent model of data broadcasting information platform and an agent model of self-maintenance for the information service hardware, and it is demonstrated and analyzed in detail.3. It is given out that the structural model of each individual Agent. It is discussed that the function distribution and the correlations of various parts in this model.4. It is expounded in detail that the corresponding relations between the components of the agent and the components of the information platform.5. It is researched that the design theories and methods of the knowledge base of the information Agent.6. It is researched that the theories and methods of coordination between information transmission Agents. Thus the efficiency of information transmission and information channel utilization is improved, and the quality of service is further enhanced.7. Some evaluation methods of information service quality are researched to meet the demands of different users. So application scope for the information service is extended,...
