In the nineties of the 20th century, china enters a media society. The transformation of media culture was set against the background of the social transformation. The eighties of the 20th century was a preparing and developing period for the transformation, while in the nineties of the 20th century, especially after 1992,China went into a period of significant changes. It appears that many components such as development of technology, the strategy of market, the idea of media, and the reform of media system are playing an important role in this process. There are six chapters in This dissertation.The first chapter studies the transformation of media culture in the background of modernization process, and states reasons that china enters to media society.The second chapter deals with the factors that make Chinese media culture transform, includes technology, marketing strategy and idea. The interaction between them leads to media culture changes in the nineties of 20th century.The third chapter discusses that media structure changed from linear structure to 'core-multi-center' system. It makes media function change and productivity increase.The forth chapter studies that the media cultural market strategy system set up in the background of in Chinese context of media culture transformation in 20th century and three power components of causing media culture transform.The chapter fifth discusses the transformation of mode of media discourse. The production of media discourse represents cultural production.The chapter sixth analyses the mass culture. The transformation of mediaculture brings about the new conformation of Chinese mass culture that represent consumerism.So, There are some modern and post-modern phenomena appearing in this process. Since the new century coming, Chinese media culture has showed some new appearance. Chinese media culture will be a new start-point leading to future, especially in background of going into WTO and building politic civilization.
