This paper takes the music journal with theoretical articles published in Mainland China in the second half of 20 th century(1949-1999, the cultural revolution period is not included) as the object of study and uses the music journal in this period as carrier to organize and study on the published literature, and thinks about and summarizes the historical material and interprets the important literature to review the influence of the music journal in the second half of 20 th century on the Chinese music development and the Chinese music theory study.This paper has five chapters, illustrating the music journal development and the literature published in the music journal in the second half of 20 th century: In Chapter 1, this paper elaborates the development of the music journal in the second half of 20 th century and the representative music journals in this period; In Chapter 2, the paper summarizes and sorts the articles about “music creation issues” published in the music journal during the fifty years, and elaborates from three aspects, namely, music creation, instrumental music creation and opera and dance drama; In Chapter 3 and Chapter 4, the paper analyzes and summarizes some key problems in the music theory study under different subjects published in the music journal. This paper elaborates the key issues from eight aspects, namely, the national folk music, music history in ancient China, the Chinese modem music history, western music history, composition technology theory, music education theory, music aesthetics, music psychology and music sociology; In Chapter 5, the paper sorts the articles about the study on music performing technology published in the music journals and respectively discusses from three aspects: the vocal music performing arts, instrumental music performing arts and conducting art. In conclusion, the music journal in the second half of 20 th century pays prompt attention to the Chinese music creation issues and the musical performing art, and studies on the theory of the Chinese music. The music journal is said to be the carrier of music criticism, the platform of music theory communication and the birthplace of academic talents. The music journal plays a significant role in the prosperity and development of the Chinese music in the second half of 20 th century.
