Modern warfare relies more and more on the use of radar sensors in a complex electronic environment, which include deliberate sophisticated countenrieasures. Since the effectiveness of the radar and radar electronic warfare system, both equipment performance and tactics effectiveness are difficult to define and even more difficult to measure or predict, computer simulation become an important way to test and evaluate its effectiveness. Now simulation system architecture and models have much inconvenience and limited use in this area. By reviewing it this dissertation presents a generic and powerful framework and advanced distributed simulation architecture for radar EW system simulation based on HLA, which makes abroad use now in American. Detailed designations and implementation methods are also presented. Modeling has particular requirements for this framework and architecture including models' modulation and hierarchy. Distributed and basic common models of radar system and radar jammer are detailed designed and programmed running in general digital computers. Simulation hierarchies include federate, federation and object. Radar and radar jammer object models have two methods to design, which are functional describing and signal describing by pulse-to-pulse. Signal modeling adopts data bus structure to change data between object modular. It's generic, modular and reusable. Ultimately this radar EW simulation system can be expandable and support integrated simulation. Typical results are given to calculate mission success probability etc. in air-to-ground radar electronic combat by modeling and simulation. Computer simulation is higher fidelity and full-scale than static analytical analysis, also is more flexible and lower cost than field test.
