In the 21st century, the governments of developed and developing countries are realizing the relation between the vocational education and their international competitive capability. The vocational education has been regarded as an efficient way of developing. In the procedure of increasing investment and expanding in vocational education, more people are being attracted to participate in the vocational education, and the hassles for people who accept and enjoy the vocational education are being removed. Ambitions goal of personnel professional training have been proposed by the governments, and accordingly the reform of the vocational education curriculum. The bridge has been also constructed between the vocational education and the general education, in order to incorporate the vocational education into an essential part of the life-long education system.The reform and the development of the vocational education in China had received important attractions from Chinese government too, in particular due to the current financial crisis to the country economic society. Through its influence, for instance, the unemployment has become one of the important issues for the Chinese government. Moreover, China has been in the new turn of urbanization, which results in the massive transfer of less-educated rural population into the cities. In order to promote the individual qualification of these rural people and enhance their employment capability through the education, as well as to raise their city life quality, the vocational education should be an important way to train these people into valuable human resource for the development of economics in China.Although the demand of the vocational education is enormous in the economic society, but the certain deviations and misunderstandings in the vocational education have been there for long time and among many people. What could be the reasons? The thesis will try to discover this question from the sociological point of view, such as the social stratification and the social mobility. The Chinese current social economy development, the present social stratification situation, and the targeted harmonious sociality are analyzed in details here. Furthermore, a thorough analysis will be given on the relation of vocational education with respect to the social stratification. The study on the connection of the educational certificate and the professional certificate curriculum, will allow the promotion of the social mobility, social justice, the harmonious society through the vocational education, which will also be beneficial to the development of a fair and harmonic society in China.The thesis is divided into six chapters: The first chapter is introduction, where the research background, theory and significance had been addressed. The core concepts which are involved in the thesis will be identified, which confines the start point of the research.The second chapter will analyze the Chinese society lamination and the social mobility at current situation, as well as the role of education on the situation. The necessity and the urgency of this study will be introduced. From the education point of view, through research will be conducted on the cause of Chinese current society lamination in various directions, social mobility including the down-flow and the up-flow. The main factor will be identified for the society up-flow. It will be shown that, in order to promote the society up-flow, it is important to enhance the individual cultural capability and enhance the society network capability. The third chapter will study the value of the vocational education under the condition of current Chinese society lamination situation. The interaction and relations of the vocational education and the social mobility will be analyzed, as well as the role of the vocational education on the social up-flow.The fourth chapter will research thoroughly on the vocational education in terms of the path choice of the social up-flow. The education qualifications and the certificates will be paid equal attention on. From the macroscopic point of view such as globalization, the urbanization, the modernization and so on, analysis will be given on the importance of general human resource development. It will be shown that, the vocational education has to be focused not only on the educational certificates, but also on the training of professional qualifications and the professional ability.The fifth chapter is to study the curriculum of the vocational education. The "two-certificate" education system of curriculum reform and practice will be analyzed through comparison to the cases in England, Australia, Taiwan and so on. Proposals and suggestions will be given for the purpose of reforming Chinese vocational education curriculum: Educate the "people" is the essence of the vocational education; The training development is the foundation of the vocational education; Ability and the qualifications education are the core of the vocational education.The sixth chapter will study further on the vocational education in terms of its promotion to social mobility, both of external and internal mechanism. The vocational education is designed to promote the social mobility, which needs to be integrated seamlessly into the life-long education system and into the community education system as well. In the same time, through this process of, the leadership of the vocational education school principal has to be strengthened. The research on the cultural reconstruction and the industrial cooperation of the vocational education are important factors. Moreover, the relations between the school, the community and the guardians of the students are also need to be addressed to finally realize the social up-flow through the successful vocational education.In addition, the thesis also will also study the vocational education in terms of the whole educational system, widen the relative research field and rich the content of the research.
