| ObjectiveTo establish the Evaluation Scale of Clinical Nursing Teachers’ Competencies in order to evaluate the clinical nursing teachers’ capabilities systematically,objectively and quantitatively,and so as to training the clinical nursing teachers effectively,and improving the quality of clinical nursing teaching.MethodsFirstly,we adopted literature review,Critical Incidence Technique and expert group discussion to develop the index elements of the clinical nursing teachers’ competencies.Secondly,we consulted 40 experts from 14 provinces and municipalities in China who specialized in nursing education or(and)nursing management by Delphi method.After three rounds of expert consultation and modification on the name,structure and connotation of the initial indicators elements,the evaluation indicators were carried out.Then,we investigated 263 clinical nursing teachers using the questionnaire consist of the evaluation indicators of clinical nursing teachers’ competencies.The items were selected by item distribution method,Cronbach’s α coefficient method and factor analysis method to form the competencies evaluation scale of clinical nursing teachers.Finally,the reliability and validity of the scale were tested using content validity,split-half reliability,retest reliability and Cronbach’s α coefficient.Results1.103 critical events of the clinical nursing teachers were extracted by analyzing critical events from 67 clinical nursing teachers,and then refined to 56 basic elements of clinical nursing teachers’ competencies.2.Through literature analysis and expert group discussion and modified,the evaluation indicators system of clinical nursing teachers’ competencies consisted of 6first-level indicators and 58 second-level indicators.6 first-level indicators were personality characteristics,professional attitude,interpersonal relationship,teaching ability,nursing professional ability and teaching management ability.3.40 nursing experts participated in three rounds of expert consultation.The response rates of the three rounds of expert consultation questionnaire were 100%.The expert authority coefficient was 0.932.The resulting evaluation indicators system of clinical nursing teachers’ competencies included 5 first-level indicators and 44 second-level indicators.5 first-level indicators were personality characteristics,professional attitude,nursing professional ability,teaching ability,teaching management ability.4.44 second-level indicators were retained,and the framework of the scale was adjusted.Finally,the Evaluation Scale of Clinical Nursing Teachers ’Competencies was formed,including 5 first-level indicators and 44 second-level indicators.5 first-level indicators were personality characteristics,self-control,professional attitude,nursing professional ability and teaching ability.5.The results of reliability and validity test of the scale displayed: the half reliability of Spearman-Brown coefficient of the scale was 0.987,the retest reliability correlation coefficient was 0.852,the overall Cronbach’s α was 0.966,the CVI value of the scale was0.992,and the CVI of each index was in the range of 0.95~1.00.ConclusionsThrough the scientific and comprehensive entry formation and screening,the Evaluation Scale of Clinical Nursing Teachers’ Competencies was developed.The scale has high credibility and reliability,which is worthy of clinical application. |
