Analysis Of The Research Situation Of Science And Technology History At Home And Abroad For The Past Twenty Years (1996-2015)

The History of Science and Technology is a comprehensive and interdisciplinary subject of both Classics and modern historical resources, which permeates the natural and social sciences, and plays the crucial role that is indispensable. The Study of the History of Science and Technology arised with the rise of science and technology in human society. In the ancient times, the study of the history of science and technology has been sprouting, along with the progress of scientific and technology development. Naturally the integration of previous knowledge was in progress. This is the beginning of the History of Science and Technology. Nowadays, the study is progressing from a large amount of historical data and simple record narrative to a theoretical system, with a more complete discipline system. Studying the logic behind the development of science and technology itself, reveals the social and historical background, the development rythm and the future of the field of History of Science and Technology.This paper first discusses the history and development of science and technology history at home and abroad, by using the bibliometric visualization software Citespace to analyze the four international recognized science journals from foreign language database science citation index extension (SCIE) as well as two journals from the Chinese journal full text database (CNKI). By processing and analyzing these data, the objective is to obtain an overview of high-yield institutions,and authors in the field and research on hot subjects of the history of science and technology at home and abroad. The paper presents the 20 years of research key words into four distinctive stages, by analysing the trend in the study of history of science and technology to gain an understanding of the past two decades of science and technology history research.The trends of the history of foreign science and technology research in the past two decades in the paper are: the history of science, such as the history of physics,the history of medicine and the history of chemistry, have always been the focus and hotspot of the research; while local hot research areas are: the ancient classics research, scientific and technological history of characters, science and technology exchanges and dissemination. It is shown that the local history still occupies a large proportion of research. With the application of new technology, scientific sociology,philosophy of science, foreign history of science and technology is moving gradually under the spotlight. The study of the history of science and technology is becoming a study of comprehensive history. The new trend of the study of the history of science and technology is the result of the common influence of local and international study of history of science and technology.
