Objective:This research aims to get the health information of fresh students in certain universitiyand understand the situation of student health literary and suggestions from teachers and students by personal interview,then to understand the main factors in cultivation of health literacy and to discuss the form and method of health education.Therefore our results could provide references for colleges and universities or the departments concerned to conduct health education,lay down promotion work and improve health literacy of students.Method:Totally 537 freshmen(484 valid questionnaires)of undergraduate(299 students)and graduate(238 students)students in a university were taken as investigation object by method of cluster sampling and anonymous survey.Investigation content include personal information,basic knowledge,healthy life style and behavior,basic skills and health education.Quantification: SAS9.3 was employed to analyze the raw data of questionnaire investigation of college students' health literary input in Execl.Qualification: we further understand the situation of student health literary and suggestions from teachers and students by personal interview.Results:Qualified health literacy rate of the freshmen in this university is 15.91% with score of 26.86±3.89(total 38 points).In three main aspects of health literacy,qualified rate of basic knowledge is 43.39% with score of 12.83±2.25(total 17 points),qualified rate of healthy life style and behavior is 11.16% with score of 9.85±2.11(total 16 points),qualified rate of basic skills is 83.47% with score of 4.18±0.76(total 5 points).In five aspects of health issues,qualified rate of scientific health conception is 43.80% with score of 5.22±1.18(total 7 points),qualified rate of infectious disease prevention is 62.60% with score of 4.86±1.07(total 6 points),qualified rate of chronic disease prevention is 15.29% with score of 5.06±1.42(total 9 points),qualified rate of safety and first aid is 77.07% with score of 6.06±1.00(total 7 points),qualified rate of medical care is 33.88% with score of 5.83±1.50(total 9 points).Binary logistic regression of influence factors in health literacy showed that only child or not,ways of health knowledge acquisition,satisfaction level of health education contents and form are the three influencing factors.Results of teachers and students interviews showed low entire health literacy and general bad life style and behaviors in health.Less than 50% of ways of health knowledge acquisition is on campus while lectures,physical class,internet and communication with friends and relatives are the most common approaches to get health knowledges for students now.Conclusions:The level of entire health literacy is low.Healthy life style is the worst in three main aspects of health literacy while chronic disease prevention is the worst in five main aspects of health issue.Related departments in colleges and universities should strengthen the health education and health promotion to these two aspects.Regular monitoring should also be carried out in these areas.Statistically significant demological factors from the differences between total score and the score of healthy life styles and behaviors indicate that we should pay more attention to graduates than undergraduates and to males,not the only child,rural students and students in poor family financial condition.According to the results of interviews combined with above mentioned factors,more health lectures of high quality should be given on campus.We should also provide more basic health knowledge via traditional paper media and/or internet platform.School hospital and student psych centre should have provided more consuling and communication chance,even health education courses for all students to satisfy the different needs of health education form and contents.
