ObjectivesTo investigate the condition of healthy literacy of teachers and students in a medical college in Gansu province;To analyse the influencing factors of healthy literacy of teachers and students;To propose measures of improving the healthy literacy.Methods15 classes including 577 students and 109 teachers of a medical college in Gansu province were randomly selected.Random cluster sampling method were used.We used the healthy literacy investigating questionnaire of national residents 2013 and analysed the data with spss 19.0 software.ResultsThe objects investigated included 577 students and 109 teachers;female students accounted for 79.03%,female teachers 56.88%,the average age of students is 19.80 years old,and teachers is 34.36.The main ways of getting health knowledge of students and teachers ar e from books(78.72%),class/ online education(68.80%)and internet(52.77%);The healthy literacy rate of students is 32.41%,including the rate of dimension of fundamental knowledge and concept is 50.09%,the rate of dimension of healthy lifestyle and behavior is 29.98% and the rate of dimension of basic skills is 35.64%.The healthy literacy rate of teachers is 52.29%,including the rate of dimension of fundamental knowledge and concept is 66.97%,the rate of dimension of healthy lifestyle and behavior is 40.37% and the rate of dimension of basic skills is 54.13%.The healthy literacy of students with different gender,grade,nation,educational degrees of parents,major,health is statistically significant;and the healthy literacy of teachers with diff erent educational degrees of parents,family register,and self health is statistically signif icant.Conclusions1.The rate of healthy literacy of medical students is 32.41% which is low level;the rate of healthy literacy of teachers is higher than that of students,which is 52.29%;2.After logistic regression analysis,we found that the father’s degree of education,students’ major and self health are main influencing factors of students’ healthy literacy and the father’s degree of education is the main influencing factor of teachers’ healthy literacy.3.There is difference of knowledge of healthy literacy between students and teachers and healthy lifestyle and behavior is the common weak point of teachers and students.
