Objective to study the health literacy status of some college students in Guangzhou,to analysis the influence factors of student health literacy level, and discuss theirinfluence to the health related quality of life, to provide a scientific reference to makehealth promotion and evaluate intervention.Method We use college student health literacy questionnaire and EQ-5D scale tosurvey2109students by stratified cluster sampling in some universities in Guangzhou.To analysis data by t test, ANOVA, and2test, classification tree, unconditionalLogistic regression analysis and correlation analysis.Results1. The level of health literacy of students was8.2%, with the basic healthknowledge and concept literacy, the healthy lifestyle and basic skills level were18.2%,13.7%and41.3%, respectively. The scientific health views, safety and aid literacy,infectious diseases prevention literacy, basic medical literacy and chronic diseaseprevention literacy was80.7%,50.1%,26.4%,16.5%,7.0%, respectively.2. The classification tree showed that major was the most important influencefactor for health literacy, basic health knowledge and concept. Optional health courseswas the most important influence factor for healthy behaviors and lifestyle.Hometown was the most important influence factor for health skills literacy.Multivariable Logistic regression analysis showed that gender affected scientifichealth views and basic medical literacy. Grade affected five categories of healthliteracy. Major and optional health courses affected infectious disease prevention,chronic disease prevention, safety and aid and basic medical literacy. Hometownaffected infectious disease prevention literacy. Mother’s education level affectedscientific health views and infectious disease prevention literacy.3. College students had any problem in mobility, self-care, usual activity,pain/discomfort, anxiety/depression were4.2%,1.9%,1.9%,15.4%,27.9%, respectively. The average VAS and EQ-5D index of college students were(85.38±10.34),(0.911±0.132). VAS and EQ-5D index were all different betweenstudents with different optional health courses, self-reported academic record, healthliteracy, basic health knowledge and concept, healthy behavior and lifestyle. Themultivariable Logistic regression analysis showed that the influence factors of collegestudents’ anxiety/depression were gender, hometown, self-reported academic recordand health literacy.4. VAS, EQ-5D index and health literacy scores showed significant positivecorrelation, and the three aspects of health literacy scores showed significant positivecorrelation.Conclusion1. College students’ health literacy level was low in some universities inGuangzhou, and three aspects and five categories of health literacy level was notbalanced. We should strengthen the poor parts-healthy behavior and lifestyle literacy,chronic disease prevention literacy and basic medical literacy in the future promoting.2. Gender, major, hometown and other factors influenced students’ health literacylevel. Promoting the health literacy of college students should base on differentdemographic characteristics, so make more targeted.3.Psychological problem was the mainly health problems to college students. Weshould pay more attention to students with poor academic record, female, comingfrom rural part of mainland. College students with health literacy were not easy tohappen anxiety/depression. Promotion the health literacy of university students couldimprove their HRQOL.4. We should promote health education and promotion work, explore new waysto improve students’ health literacy, and regularly monitor the health literacy ofuniversity student.
