With the progress of science and technology day by day and the extensive application of the computer, the integration on Machine-electric-hydraulic-information is the developing trend of modern mechanical, which makes changes in the concept of traditional mechanical and pure mechanical.Yet in spite how the modern mechanical develop to, the mechanism used as transfering and transforming the artifical system of mechanical movement is still an important part of most machine.The mechanism such as the linkage mechanism, the gear mechanism, the cam mechanism, the screw mechanism, the oblique mechanism, the stepping mechanism, the friction wheel mechanism, the transmission mechanism, the pressure mechanism, the hydraulic mechanism, the electromagnetic mechanism, the intelligent mechanism and so on are mostly all over the fuction vector. This paper according to the designing characteristics conversion from function to principle introduces the designing problems of the linkage mechanism which mainly include selection design, motion size design and motion analysis.The so-called selection design selects different mechanism to realize requirement base on different basic fuction, different transformation of motion form or different power source. After the selection design is the motion size design which is in order to meet the requirement such as the given fuction, the motion form, the path and so on. There are a lot of methods of motion size design, the designing methods of four-bar linkage according to the expectation action, the expectation position and the expectation path and the the designing methods of the slider-crank mechanism according to the optimal transmission angle and the allowable transmission angle are intruced in this paper. Motion analysis is to verify the motion characteristics of the mechanism and the satisties degree of fuction. The method of complex vector is used in this paper to analyse the motion of the mechanism.This paper uses a parametric and CAD method to design Linkage Mechanism base on VB and database technology. The method that transfers the fuction, the scheme and other concept represented by character form to the attribute and the parameters of the mechanism selects the mechanism which meets the requirement by means of the connection of parameters and imagic, the database of the mechanism gragh to be obtained by independent storage and correlated connection and the optimal solution is from simulation and evaluation. The method uses VB as developing tool, so that it can realize the Linkage Mechanism design process parameterization and the simulation results visualization, and provides a good way for the evaluation and optimization of the mechanism. It also uses Access as a data support, and uses the ADO technology to operate the database, which makes the design can be reused and the samples can be used in the princeple and optimization foundation of the following design. At the end of the paper, the four-bar linkage and the slider-crank mechanism are taken as examples to verify the practicality of the designing method.
