The gear is widely used in mechanical transmission system, it has the advantagesof transmission ratio accurate, work reliable and with a broad application prospect.But its structure is complex and modeling process cumbersome. Parametric modelingis based on the original design and only needs to modify parameters which can get allkinds of different specifications and models, it can improve design efficiency andreduce duplication of modeling, modern mechanical products greatly depends on theparametric design and manufacturing. Along with the increase of data type andamount in CAD system, the data has the trend to separate from CAD system to forman independent database, so that different applications can use it for data exchange.Implement database modular design, make the program and data be relativelyindependent will be efficient and convenient to achieve the gear data extraction andsharing. It is of significance to realize the three-dimension parametric modeling ofgear in meeting the needs of the CAD/CAE/CAM integration and laying thefoundation for subsequent design and manufacturing. The core of the current researchcontent mainly includes:1. Research on accurate involute gear parametric modeling based on the sizeconstraints. On the basis of the parametric design of theory and UG secondarydevelopment method, propose the design method based on the size constraints. Thedevelopment platform is based on UG NX6.0. The author uses UG/Open Grip whichis UG secondary development interface and Visual C++programming to build upthree-dimensional parametric modeling system which include in straight spur gearsand helical gears, achieve rapid design input parameters by dialog box of the gear.2. Research on the gear database building based on UG/OPEN API, VC++technology and the ODBC database technology. The Access database is used to storethe series parameters of the gear, using ODBC to connect with data source and usingthe database interface of ODBC supported by UG/KF&SQL statements to read-writedata. Realize the two layers of C/S structure of the gear database system build. Thegear database mainly includes the design parameters of gear such as serial number, modulus, tooth number, in addition design the function of data storage, query, deleteand so on.3. Research on the gear optimization design based on UG/MOTION modulemovement simulation. According to combining the theoretical analysis withsimulation experiment,obtained a large number of motion parameters by means ofsolving the operational, realized the gear meshing movement correctly. Through givethe interference checking of the meshing gears, given the form of mathematical termsof interference between the gears, according to the working status parameters andtest results, realize the gear structure optimization design of parametric modeling.
