As the foundation of our country, the manufacturing industry plays a significant role in the country’s economic growth. In the latest 14 th Five-Year Plan, the Chinese government has proposed to implement the strategy of manufacturing power in depth, and the global manufacturing landscape has started to shift its main focus to comply with the new round of technological revolution and meet the requirements of building an innovative country. However,in terms of profit sharing in the global value chain, the more profitable segments such as product design and R&D have been occupied by developed countries for a long time, while some of the processing trade segments have been transferred to most developing countries, and the development of their manufacturing industries is continuously suppressed by trade protection measures. The "One Belt,One Road" initiative opens up new paths for climbing the manufacturing value chain, and it is crucial to study the factors affecting China’s position in the division of labour with other countries along the route and the paths to achieve this,in order to break through the development challenges of the industry at this stage. This paper takes the countries along the "Belt and Road" including China as the research object, firstly,it summarizes and analyzes the shortcomings of various division of labor indices according to the characteristics of global value chains, and uses principal component analysis to construct the global value chain location index and participation index of each manufacturing industry segment, and extracts five principal components to calculate the location index of 14 manufacturing industries in the sample countries of the "Belt and Road".Then,on the basis of global value chain division of labour theory, endogenous growth theory and factor endowment theory, the research framework of this paper is constructed;at the same time, considering the complexity of the influencing factors of global value chain,in order to further clarify the mechanism of differentiation formation At the same time, considering the complexity of the influencing factors of GVCs,in order to further clarify the mechanism of differentiation, this paper adopts fs QCA to explore the influencing paths and arrive at four different groupings of high GVC division of labour status;finally, combining with specific cases, this paper summarises three propositions and provides policy suggestions for the upgrading of the division of labour status of China, the "Belt and Road" countries and the manufacturing industry as a whole with the findings of empirical research,so as to provide academic references for subsequent related studies. The study will provide academic references for subsequent research. The paper concludes that no single dimension of internal factors(R&D investment, human capital and natural resource abundance)and external factors(infrastructure development, economic freedom)alone can constitute the necessary conditions for an increase in GVC division of labour status. The empirical results show that there are four different configurations of GVC division of labour, which can be summarised as "inputreturn","unique","slow-entry",and "slow-accelerating",The results show that there are four different configurations of GVC upgrading, which can be summarised as "input-return","uniquely endowed","slow-going" and "aggressive",with different influencing factors acting as core or auxiliary conditions for the results. Finally, taking into account the development status of the "Belt and Road" countries and the relevant findings of this paper,we propose targeted recommendations in terms of accelerating the construction of domestic infrastructure, optimising the allocation of resources and factors in the region, strengthening domestic policy and regulatory reform, optimising the domestic business environment, improving customs clearance efficiency and enhancing trade facilitation. The paper also proposes recommendations to better lead the construction of regional value chains in the "Belt and Road" region and achieve the goal of climbing up to the middle and high end of the global value chain.
