| With the rapid development of economic globalization and trade liberalization, regional integration has become increasingly stronger.Over recent years, the logistics industry has grown into one of the mainstay industries for regional economic development;therefore, logistics integration shows significant meanings to the coordinated development of regional economy.Logistics network remains the basic premise of the development of logistics industry, because reasonable logistics network can improve the operation efficiency of regional logistics and optimize the allocation of resources.Regarded as the fourth growth pole in China, the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle takes initiative in China to become the core area in central and western China in the regional economic development strategy,so it enjoys a prominent strategic position.Given the crucial significance for the sustainable development of China’s economy and the smooth running of the regional logistics industry,it is necessary to evaluate and improve the urban logistics development in the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle.Against this background, this study takes the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle as the research object to quantify and evaluate its logistics development level in terms of city clusters, while analyzing the spatiotemporal evolution characteristics of the logistics development level. In addition, this study builds a logistics network structure for the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle and puts forward certain suggestions for optimizing and facilitating the logistics development of the city cluster. This thesis mainly includes the following parts:First,it reviews relevant literature and analyzes the current status of the logistics industry in the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle in three aspects: the logistics infrastructure;the logistics industry operation;and the coordination between logistics and economy.Second, this study builds an evaluation criterion system to assess the logistics capacity of the city cluster in four aspects: regional and economic development;supply and demand of regional logistics;logistics infrastructure;and logistics information application.Taking the 16 cities in the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle as the research object and using the fuzzy neural network method, this study tests the logistics development level of the city cluster in the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle in 2010-2020.Third,this study analyzes the spatial differentiation features and dynamic distribution evolution of the logistics capacity of the city cluster based on the Moran index and kernel density estimation. In order to verify the accuracy of the predicated value of the logistics capacity of the city cluster, this study introduces the BP neural network to compare the prediction errors from the fuzzy neural network method adopted in this study with those form the BP neural network, finding that the prediction error section of the neural network is smaller. At last, based on the development of the logistics capacity of the city cluster, this study establishes the logistics network structure of the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle by using the logistics gravity model and the logistics membership method, with some optimization suggestions put forward correspondingly. The results of the thesis show that:(1)In terms of the current logistics development, the logistics of Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle enjoys a favourable development momentum, but still with huge potentials for growth. The highway infrastructure of the urban agglomeration has become relatively complete.Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle is making efforts to deliver integrated development of highways and waterways.(2)In terms of time evolution characteristics, firstly, the logistics development index of various cities in Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle soared during the observation period of 2010 to 2020,and favourable development achievements have been obtained over recent five years in such cities as Deyang,Mianyang,Leshan and Yibin, all of which are located close to Chengdu;secondly, the logistics development levels of the cities had been raised year by year over the observation period;especially, the cities around Chengdu increased their levels quickly, reflecting an obvious “spillover effect”.However,Ziyang City’s logistics level is relatively low, indicating an obvious “siphon effect” from Chongqing and Chengdu.(3)As to the spatial evolution trend, the two core cities of Chongqing and Chengdu City are within the HH diffusion effect area all year round, indicating their higher urban logistics level than that of the surrounding cities, with a significant diffusion effect that could drive the development of the surrounding cities.Over recent years,Deyang City,Mianyang City,Leshan City and Yibin City have enjoyed a favourable logistics development, which also further reveals Chengdu City’s significant “spillover effect”.The estimation results of kernel density show that the urban logistics level in Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle is in a rising track, with a low dispersion degree and reduced year-by-year regional differences.(4)In terms of logistics network structure,as shown in the comprehensive evaluation of logistics capacity of urban agglomeration, logistics attraction intensity and logistics membership degree among cities,a regional logistics network has been established, with Chongqing City and Chengdu City set as the first-class logistics axis cities, and Deyang City and Leshan City set as the second-class ones in Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle.(5)Based on the measurement of the cities’ logistics development levels as well as the analysis results for the logistics network structure in Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle, this paper puts forward certain strategies for promoting the logistics development in the Circle in three aspects: the node cities in the urban agglomeration;the overall current development of the urban agglomeration itself;and the authoritative organizations, such as government agencies and associations. The conclusions of this study can provide references for realizing a balanced and coordinated development of regional economy and logistics in Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle. |
