Study On The Bilateral Trade Potential Of Agricultural Products Between Laos And Chin

The proposal of the "the Belt and Road" initiative,the opening of the Laos China railway and the signing of the RCEP agreement have played a positive role in promoting the development of economic and trade relations between Laos and China.Agricultural product trade,as an important field of economic and trade cooperation between Laos and China,has become increasingly close with the support of various policies.The smooth development of bilateral agricultural trade activities between Laos and China is not only conducive to promoting the overall development of Laos’ agricultural economy,but also has a significant impact on regional economic integration and economic integration between the two countries.However,due to issues such as the economic level,government policies,and tariff differences between the two countries,the development of bilateral agricultural trade between Laos and China has been greatly constrained and affected.In the future,how to continue to maintain mutually beneficial cooperation and tap into trade potential between Laos and China has become a key issue that needs to be paid attention to in the development of bilateral agricultural product economic and trade relations between the two countries.As close neighbors of friendly countries,the bilateral trade of agricultural products between Laos and China has played a positive role in promoting the development of political relations,economic and trade relations,and cultural exchanges between the two countries in recent years.Therefore,research on the bilateral trade of agricultural products between the two countries is of great significance.Based on previous studies,this paper takes the bilateral trade of agricultural products between Laos and China as the research object,tests and calculates the efficiency and potential of bilateral trade of agricultural products between Laos and China by constructing a stochastic frontier Gravity model,and on this basis,puts forward policy recommendations from the national level of Laos.This study found that:(1)in terms of explanatory variables,the relationship between per capita GDP and agricultural trade between trading countries is positive but not significant.The geographical distance,average tariff level,and agricultural trade relationship between the two countries are negative and significant.The growth of population,per capita income difference,and agricultural trade relationship between trading countries are negative and not significant.The TCI between the two countries The relationship between the "the Belt and Road" initiative and agricultural trade of trading countries is positive and significant;(2)In terms of trade efficiency,the bilateral trade efficiency of agricultural products between Laos and China shows an overall upward trend.From the perspective of unilateral efficiency,Laos’ export efficiency of agricultural products to China is higher than Laos’ import trade efficiency to China;(3)In terms of trade potential,the bilateral trade potential of agricultural products between Laos and China has shown an overall downward trend.From the perspective of unilateral trade potential,Laos’ import potential of agricultural products from China is higher than Laos’ export trade potential of agricultural products from China.There is significant room for improvement in the bilateral trade potential of agricultural products between Laos and China.On the basis of empirical analysis results,this paper proposes strategies to promote Laos’ agricultural products trade with China from five aspects: strengthening cooperation under the "the Belt and Road" initiative,improving the quality and technical level of agricultural products,improving the structure of agricultural products and the construction of logistics system,expanding trade scale by complementing advantages,and vigorously developing Laos’ basic transportation industry.
