| As the international situation changes,the problems of key core technologies being restricted by others and the low-end of the internal industry chain are increasingly exposed,thus triggering a more urgent need for technological innovation.At the same time,as the awareness of the protection of technological innovation increases,the issue of intellectual property protection is on the agenda.What is the role of intellectual property protection in the impact of technological innovation on the upgrading of regional industrial structures? This question is worth studying.This thesis firstly compares the literature on the relationship between technological innovation,intellectual property protection and regional industrial structure upgrading at home and abroad,explains the relevant concepts and proposes the relationship between technological innovation and regional industrial structure upgrading by analysing the relationship between technological innovation,intellectual property protection and regional industrial structure upgrading based on technological innovation theory,property rights theory,knowledge spillover theory and industrial structure evolution theory.The hypothesis of the moderating effect and threshold effect of intellectual property protection is also proposed.Secondly,based on the data of 31 provinces in China from 2011 to 2020,we used factor analysis to construct the indicators of the level of intellectual property protection,and after smoothness analysis by LLC test and IPS test,we selected a dynamic panel SYS-GMM model to empirically study the impact of technological innovation and the moderating effect of intellectual property protection on the rationalization of regional industrial structure and the upgrading of industrial structure,and Robustness tests are conducted by replacing the variables and heterogeneity tests are conducted for the four economic regions by region.Finally,considering the possibility of a non-linear relationship between technological innovation and the upgrading of regional industrial structure,the interval effect of technological innovation on the upgrading of regional industrial structure was tested using the level of intellectual property protection as the threshold variable.(1)Technological innovation has contributed to the rationalisation and upgrading of the regional industrial structure.(2)Intellectual property protection has a moderating effect in the process of technological innovation’s influence on industrial structure upgrading.In particular,it has a significant positive moderating effect on the rationalisation of the regional industrial structure and a negative moderating effect on the upgrading of the regional industrial structure.(3)There is regional heterogeneity in the impact of technological innovation on the upgrading of regional industrial structures,with the largest and significant coefficient in the western region,followed by the northeastern region.(4)The level of intellectual property protection plays a threshold effect in the process of technological innovation’s influence on industrial structure upgrading.Among them,technological innovation has a significant single threshold effect on the rationalisation of regional industrial structure,while it has a significant double threshold effect on the upgrading of regional industrial structure.Based on the above findings,this thesis makes recommendations: to enhance technological innovation capacity and strengthen the sustainability of technological innovation;to pay more attention to the regional differences among the East,Central,West and Northeast regions,and to formulate locally appropriate policies on technological innovation and intellectual property protection;to strengthen intellectual property protection,improve and perfect the intellectual property protection system,and create a favourable policy environment for industrial structure upgrading,so as to further bring technological innovation and intellectual property protection into full play.protection to promote the upgrading of the regional industrial structure to maximum effect. |
