As a high-tech industry,the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry has the characteristics of high investment and high return.Strengthening technological innovation and enhancing its international competitiveness is a necessary path.Compared to developed countries such as Europe and America,China’s pharmaceutical manufacturing industry has a weaker overall competitiveness.Most of the pharmaceutical manufacturing enterprises are small and micro enterprises,and have not developed global enterprises such as MSD in the United States.Therefore,it is particularly important to cultivate a group of competitive manufacturing industry clusters.This article mainly explores the main relationship between the three keywords of industrial cluster,technological innovation,and export technology complexity.By exploring the impact mechanism of industrial cluster and technological innovation on export technology complexity,we identify the problems in the development process of China’s pharmaceutical manufacturing industry,and then propose improvement plans that are suitable for the development status of China’s pharmaceutical manufacturing industry.Firstly,this article uses theoretical analysis to organize literature related to industrial agglomeration,technological innovation,and export technology complexity.Based on Marshall’s external economies of scale theory,Schumpeter’s technological innovation theory,and the New-New Trade Theory,it summarizes the impact mechanism and proposes two hypotheses: 1.Industrial agglomeration can enhance the complexity of export technology;2.Technological innovation can play a positively mesomeric effect in the impact of industrial agglomeration on export technological complexity.Secondly,descriptive statistical analysis is used to analyze the development status and export status of China’s pharmaceutical manufacturing industry.The location entropy index is used to measure and analyze the agglomeration situation of the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry in 31 provinces and cities in China.The export technology complexity index is used to measure and analyze the quality level of pharmaceutical manufacturing product exports in various provinces and cities in China.The R&D personnel equivalent full-time index is used to analyze the technological innovation situation of the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry in various provinces and cities in China,It was found that all indicators showed the highest in the eastern region,followed by the central region,and the lowest in the western region.To summarize the two major problems in China’s pharmaceutical manufacturing industry,firstly,the uneven layout of the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry in the east,middle,and west regions,and secondly,the insufficient planning of pharmaceutical manufacturing industry clusters.Finally,in order to verify the impact of China’s pharmaceutical manufacturing industry agglomeration on the complexity of export technology and the mediating effect of technological innovation,this article uses data from 31 provinces and cities in China’s pharmaceutical manufacturing industry from 2002 to 2020 for empirical model testing.From the perspective of the basic model,industrial agglomeration can promote the complexity of export technology;From the perspective of the mesomeric effect model,technological innovation plays a part of intermediary role in the impact of industrial agglomeration on export technological complexity.From the perspective of heterogeneity testing,provinces with strong industrial agglomeration have a greater impact on the complexity of export technology,further confirming the conclusion.Based on the above research,the following suggestions are proposed for the improvement of export technology complexity in China’s pharmaceutical manufacturing industry: firstly,the government needs to make a reasonable layout of China’s pharmaceutical manufacturing industry to enhance overall industrial efficiency;Secondly,the government needs to plan industrial agglomeration areas,guide the flow of factors towards the agglomeration areas,and play a good role in industrial agglomeration effects;Third,enterprises should seize the opportunity and policy dividends,actively use the resources of the cluster to carry out technological innovation,and vigorously enhance the mesomeric effect. |
