Innovation is the first power to lead development,green is the necessary condition for sustainable development,and science and technology innovation is closely related to green development.For a long time,China’s economic development has paid a serious price of environment and energy resources.The report of the 19 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China pointed out that it is necessary to “speed up the reform of ecological civilization system and build a beautiful China”,emphasizing the importance of green economic efficiency.Science and technology innovation plays an important role in improving green economic efficiency under the constraints of resources and environment.Study on the impact of science and technology innovation on the green economic efficiency in China is an important issue facing China,which is conducive to the realization of green economic growth.Combined with relevant achievements and theories,this paper analyzes the current situation of scientific and technological innovation in China.Then,based on the data of 30 provinces in China from 2006 to 2018,the input-output system of capital,labor,energy and green GDP is constructed,and the green economic efficiency is calculated by using the stochastic frontier analysis model.Finally,the paper constructs the spatial econometric model of the impact of science and technology innovation on green economic efficiency from the mechanism of action,and estimates the parameters by using the fixed effect spatial Durbin model.The results show that: first,China has developed rapidly in science and technology innovation and R&D investment intensity continues to improve.And science and technology innovation output are rich.However,there are some problems,such as unbalanced spatial distribution,insufficient basic innovation research,and the proportion of invention patents to be improved.Second,China’s green economic efficiency has increased from 2006 to 2018.The Theil index shows the development of green economy is unbalanced,mainly due to regional differences.There is a significant positive spatial correlation between green economic efficiency of 30 provinces in China.Third,science and technology innovation promotes the development of green economic efficiency,and there is a positive spillover effect.Both basic innovation and applied innovation promote China’s green economic efficiency.In the short run,the effect of applied innovation is greater;in the long run,the effect of basic innovation is more lasting.In addition,innovation-driven development strategy promotes the impact of science and technology innovation on China’s green economic efficiency.Therefore,in the process of economic development,it is necessary to improve the level of science and technology innovation,promote basic innovation research,develop green innovation system,improve regional collaborative innovation and promote green integration development.
