Research On The Impact Of Digital Economy On Regional Innovation Capability

As China’s economic and social development enters a new period of high-quality development,accelerating the construction of an innovative country and promoting scientific and technological self-reliance and self-improvement are of great significance to the healthy development of the national economy,and enhancing regional innovation capacity is an important link and a necessary path.In recent years,digital technologies represented by 5G,cloud computing,blockchain,big data,etc.have developed rapidly and changed rapidly,and the digital economy has become an important way and carrier of innovation activities,and the impact about the digital economy on regional innovation is worth studying.In fact,the role of digital economy on innovation can not only achieve efficiency improvement through the integration of digital technology and real economy,but also enrich product categories and innovate product models through its internal structure,i.e.,digital industrialization and industrial digitization,promote cross-border integration of enterprise production and give rise to new technologies,new business models and new modes,which is conducive to creating a good collaborative innovation environment and a strong innovation atmosphere,and continuously promote the society continues to innovate and help China’s economic construction achieve high-quality development.Since the 18 th Party Congress,the Party Central Committee has always attached great importance to the development of China’s digital economy,has incorporated the promotion of the digital economy into the national top-level design,and has gradually become an important driving force for the transformation of the old and new dynamics of China’s economic development and innovative economic development power.At present,the world is in the unprecedented change of the century,the digital economy has become the core engine of global economic growth,which is highly valued by countries around the world.Therefore,it is important to clarify the mechanism behind the digital economy to enhance regional innovation capacity and promote the digital economy to lead regional innovation.In this context,this thesis uses a combination of theoretical and empirical analyses to explore whether and how the digital economy affects regional innovation capabilities.Firstly,on the theoretical level,based on the review of the literature on the development of digital economy,regional innovation capability and their interrelationship,this thesis discusses the role of digital economy in optimizing the structure of regional innovation agents,optimizing resource allocation and optimizing innovation environment from the perspective of regional innovation system,and explores the direct mechanism of action and the inner the direct and intrinsic structural mechanisms of the digital economy in promoting regional innovation capacity are discussed.In terms of empirical research,this thesis firstly constructs a comprehensive evaluation index of provincial digital economy development level through 10 segmented indicators in two dimensions of digital industrialization and industrial digitization,and measures the digital economy development level of each region in China by using the entropy value method to present the spatial distribution characteristics of digital economy development in each province and city in China in a three-dimensional manner,and uses the panel data of 30 provinces in China from 2011 to 2020 to the impact of digital economy development on regional innovation capacity and its mechanism of action are examined empirically using 30 provincial panel data from2011 to 2020 in China,and finally a series of robustness tests and endogeneity treatments are conducted.This thesis finds that,firstly,in terms of the total digital economy,the improvement of the overall development level of the digital economy can significantly promote regional innovation development and realize the improvement of regional innovation capacity.Second,in terms of the structure of the digital economy,digital industrialization,industrial digitization and the interaction effects generated between them can likewise significantly enhance regional innovation capacity.Third,due to the unevenness of regional development,the regional heterogeneity of digital economy development is caused,thus showing the heterogeneity of impact on regional innovation capability,specifically reflected in the obvious agglomeration effect of digital economy development in eastern regions,which has more significant impact on local innovation capability,while the digital economy development in non-eastern regions is weaker and does not have significant impact on innovation capability,and this differential impact effect is also reflected in the influence of the internal structure of digital economy on regional innovation capacity.Based on the above findings,this thesis proposes three policy recommendations,namely,to differentiate the support for innovation subjects,to realize key breakthroughs in digital industrialization and comprehensive development of industrial digitalization;to formulate development policies according to local conditions,to promote the synergistic development of digital industrialization and industrial digitalization;and to promote the synergistic development of regional innovation to narrow the digital divide within the region.
