As China’s economy has entered the new normal,innovation,as the core power of China’s economic growth,has become the core strategy for China to transform its economic development mode and promote high-quality economic development.However,compared with developed countries,China’s innovation capacity is facing difficulties such as low patent quality and low contribution to economic development.In addition,there are problems such as development differentiation and large economic gap within regions in China,which lead to obvious differences in regional innovation capabilities.In recent years,the digital economy has developed vigorously.In the process of implementing major strategies such as innovation-driven,the digital economy,which will become a new driver of economic growth in the future,will be an important driving force.It is therefore of great relevance to explore the impact of the digital economy on regional innovation capabilities.This thesis first sorts out the existing research,and discusses the impact of digital economy on regional innovation capability based on transaction cost theory,technology paradigm theory,regional innovation theory and new geographic economics theory;Secondly,taking the panel data of 11 provinces and cities in the Yangtze River Economic Belt from 2005 to 2020 as the research object,the comprehensive index of digital economy development level and regional innovation ability in the Yangtze River Economic Belt is calculated by using the entropy method,and the calculation results are analyzed to reflect the current situation and differences between the digital economy and regional innovation ability in the Yangtze River Economic Belt.Finally,an empirica test of the impact of the digital economy on the regional innovation capacity of the Yangtze River Economic Belt,the following conclusions are drawn:First,the development level of digital economy in the Yangtze River Economic Belt has improved significantly from 2005 to 2020.The sub indicators of digital economy,digital infrastructure,digital industry development,and digital economy application are on the rise as a whole,and the growth rate of digital economy application is the largest;In terms of watersheds,the development level of digital economy and all sub indicators present the law of downstream>midstream>upstream,and the application index of digital economy is the highest;There is a large gap in the development level of digital economy among provinces and cities,and most regions are at a low level.Second,the overall regional innovation capacity of the Yangtze River Economic Belt showed a growing trend year by year from 2005 to 2020,among which,the sub indicators of regional innovation capacity kept growing year by year,and the growth of innovation output was the largest;The average value of regional innovation capacity of each basin over the years shows the characteristics of downstream region>midstream region>upstream region;The regional innovation capability gap among provinces and cities is large,and Downstream regions have the highest regional innovation capacity.Third,the digital economy has been empirically tested to show a significant contribution to regional innovation capacity in the Yangtze River Economic Zone;Heterogeneity of regional innovation capabilities influenced by the digital economy in the Yangtze River Economic Zone;The results of the spatial error model show that the digital economy can significantly enhance the regional innovation capacity of the Yangtze River Economic Zone through spatial spillover effects.Based on the above results,this thesis proposes the following suggestions:Strengthen the construction of digital infrastructure and give full play to the enabling effect of digital economy on regional innovation capacity;Promoting regional synergy in the digital economy and leveraging the spatial spillover effects of the digital economy;Actively promote the upgrading of industrial structure to provide impetus for promoting regional innovation capability;Weaken the negative impact by improving the quality of FDI introduced and effectively absorbing the technology spillover it brings.
