| The strategy of China’s digital economy development at this stage is promoting deep integration of the digital economy and the real economy.For the purpose of high-quality development,the digital economy would be integrated into the development process of the manufacturing industry,while its effect would be gave full play to,the digital dividend would be unlocked,and digital technology would be helped to energize the real economy.Manufacturing industry is the core of China’s real economy,the forms of the spatial distribution of which is spatial agglomeration.Since the development of digital economy can contribute to the long-distance flow of various of factors,then the limitation of time and space will be break.The flow of the factors will cause changes of the spatial distribution pattern of manufacturing industry.Thus digital economy will certainly bring impacts on the degree of spatial agglomeration of manufacturing industry.As a result,studying the impact of the digital economy on the spatial agglomeration of manufacturing industry will help digital economy promote transformation and upgrading of the manufacturing industry,accelerate digital transformation of manufacturing enterprises,improve energy efficiency of the region,which plays an indispensable role in the high-quality development of China’s real economy.Therefore,based on existing work and new economic geography theory,this paper studies the relationship and mechanism of digital economy and manufacturing spatial agglomeration,the specific ideas of which are as follows: Firstly,analyze the development status of regional agglomeration of manufacturing industry in China from two aspects: the degree of agglomeration of manufacturing industry and the spatial layout mode,which lays a realistic foundation for subsequent research.Secondly,we analyse whether the digital economy has an local impact on the agglomeration of manufacturing industry,and whether it has a spatial spillover effect on the surrounding area.Thirdly,we analyze the mechanism of digital economy on manufacturing agglomeration.Moreover,we empirically test the relationship and mechanism between digital economy and manufacturing agglomeration by using provincial panel data from 2011 to 2020 and constructing a spatio-temporal double fixed spatial Dubin model combining spatial adjacency matrix.At last,we analyse whether there is regional heterogeneity in the impact of digital economy on manufacturing agglomeration according to the overall sample divided by four regions and eight comprehensive economic zones.Based on the above research ideas,this paper draws the following conclusions:Firstly,at the present time,China’s manufacturing industry is mainly concentrated in the east and coastal areas,and there is a trend of transfer to the central and western regions.Secondly,the development of digital economy will promote the agglomeration of manufacturing industry in this region,while there is a negative spatial spillover effect on the agglomeration of manufacturing industry in surrounding regions.Thirdly,opening up plays a completely intermediary role in the impact of digital economy on manufacturing agglomeration.Digital economy can promote the regional manufacturing agglomeration by improving the level of opening up and expanding trade scale.Moreover,regional capital intensity can strengthen the positive impact of digital economy on manufacturing agglomeration.At last,there is regional heterogeneity in the impact of digital economy on manufacturing agglomeration.Specifically speaking,for the eastern region,eastern and southern coastal economic zones,the development of digital economy promotes manufacturing agglomeration in this region,but meanwhile brings a negative spatial spillover effect on manufacturing agglomeration in surrounding regions.In the northeast and central regions,as well as the northeast,northern coastal areas,the middle reaches of the Yellow River and the middle reaches of the Changjiang River,the development of digital economy focuses on restraining the agglomeration of manufacturing industry in the region and has no impact on the surrounding area.In the western region and the Great Southwest Comprehensive economic zone,the digital economy restrains the agglomeration of manufacturing industry in the region,but promotes the agglomeration of manufacturing industry in the surrounding area.In the Great Northwest Comprehensive Economic Zone,the digital economy has no impact on the agglomeration of manufacturing industry in the region and the surrounding area.According to these conclusions,this thesis puts forward corresponding policy recommendations: First,The government should accelerate the construction of digital economy infrastructure and promote the integration of digital economy and real economy.Second,a good investment environment should be provided to strengthen the agglomeration effect of digital economy.Third,proper industrial policy should be put up according to circumstances to promote coordinated regional development.The main innovation points of this thesis are as follows: Firstly,a novel research methods has been proposed.At present,few researches about relationship between digital economy and manufacturing agglomeration use the spatial measurement method to test the mechanism.This thesis propose uses the spatial intermediary effect model and the spatial adjustment effect model to empirically analyze the mechanism of digital economy affecting manufacturing agglomeration.Secondly,a novel research perspective has been proposed.This thesis studies the mechanism of digital economy affecting manufacturing agglomeration from the perspective of opening up and capital intensity,which enriches the relevant research on digital economy and manufacturing agglomeration.In conclusion,this thesis clarifies the impact and mechanism of digital economy on manufacturing agglomeration,improves the research field of factors affecting manufacturing agglomeration,and helps the government to take targeted policy measures.Thus digital economy promote the transformation and upgrading of manufacturing industry,and achieve high-quality development of manufacturing industry. |
