On January 1,2022,RCEP officially took effect. This agreement covers 1/2 of the world’s population and 1/3 of the world’s imports and exports.China and RCEP member countries have reached many consensus on economic and trade cooperation, and the economic and trade development trend is good.Agriculture is a fundamental sector of the Chinese and RCEP nations’ economies, and thus,of great significance. The wealth of agricultural products resources in RCEP member countries is not only abundant, but they also place great emphasis on the growth of domestic agriculture and international agricultural collaboration. The signing of agricultural cooperation agreements and the alteration of agricultural trade policies have enabled China and RCEP member countries to expand their agricultural cooperation fields, resulting in a rapid expansion of agricultural trade. The Free Trade Agreement has enabled a swift enhancement of trade facilitation and liberalization, prompting an in-depth examination of the trade impact factors and effectiveness between China and the RCEP member countries,as well as the formulation of pertinent policy proposals based on the research findings. This paper, based on theoretical analysis, analyzed and further processed the bilateral trade data between China and RCEP member countries for 17 years from2005 to 2021,quantitatively describing the current agricultural product trade between China and RCEP from the perspectives of trade scale, type, and share analysis.Year by year, the agricultural products trade between China and RCEP member countries has been on the rise;however, the trade deficit of agricultural products with member countries has grown.Japan is the country with which China has the most agricultural product trade in the RCEP region;the highest proportion of agricultural products trade between China and RCEP member countries is animal and plant products. The empirical analysis delves deeper into the primary determinants of agricultural product trade between China and RCEP member countries, and then gauges the efficacy of import and export between member countries.Through the stochastic frontier gravity regression analysis, the non-efficiency term that alters over time is initially identified.Subsequently, the "one-step method" is employed to determine that China’s GDP,population, border, language, and other elements have a beneficial effect on trade efficiency, whereas geographical distance, tariff level, and other elements have a detrimental effect. The empirical results ultimately demonstrate that the trade efficiency between China,Thailand,Vietnam,New Zealand, and other significant agricultural nations is quite high, whereas the trade efficiency of agricultural products with Japan,Singapore,Australia, and other countries is comparatively low,and the trade potential is immense. This paper proposes policy recommendations, mainly in the form of improving infrastructure construction and reducing t,based on an analysis of the current agricultural product trade between China and RCEP member countries and their efficiency.Optimizing the transportation costof agricultural products, optimizing the trade structure of agricultural products, and deepening regional cooperation,as well as actively promoting the establishment of free trade zones, standardize and improve rules and regulations, all contribute to improved competitiveness.
