Study On The Influence Of Foreign Direct Investment On Agricultural Green Total Factor Productivity

China’s grain output has been effectively increased due to the implementation of the household contract responsibility system,in which people could get enough food and agriculture has been developed,the total factor productivity of agriculture has been improved as well.However,the relevant experts and scholars only consider the relationship between traditional factor input and agricultural output in calculating agricultural total factor productivity,while the effect of agricultural production on external resources and environment has not been widely concerned.Based on the analysis of traditional total factor productivity,agricultural green total factor productivity(AGTFP)includes the index of agricultural pollution,and considers the relationship between agricultural development and resources and environment comprehensively.Therefore,the analysis and discussion of AGTFP not only conforms to the green development,but also the proper meaning of sustainable agricultural development.With the introduction of a series of policies to attract foreign investment,China’s business environment continues to improve,attracting more and more foreign enterprises to invest in China.As an important channel of technology spillover,foreign direct investment(FDI)can add impetus to the further improvement of AGTFP.Therefore,how FDI in agriculture affects AGTFP and what its effect is the focus of this paper.Firstly,this paper sorted out and summarized the spillover effect of FDI,AGTFP,and the effect of FDI on AGTFP.Secondly,from the internal and external technology transfer,environmental spillover effect,competition effect,demonstration-imitation effect,personnel flow effect and other different aspects of theoretical analysis,it is found that FDI has a promoting effect on the improvement of AGTFP.Thirdly,the global GML index was used to calculate the AGTFP of the whole country and 31 provinces(municipalities and autonomous regions)during 2011-2020.During the 10 years from 2011 to 2020,the cumulative growth rate of AGTFP in the whole country reached 1.068,showing a rising trend.In terms of different provinces,the AGTFP of each province showed a fluctuating growth tendency,and the cumulative growth rate of AGTFP of Jilin Province was less than1,while that of other provinces was greater than or equal to 1.Then,this paper empirical analyzed the effect of FDI on AGTFP based on the panel data of 25 provinces from 2011 to2020.The results indicate that:(1)There is a remarkable positive correlation between FDI and AGTFP;(2)FDI can improve AGTFP,technical progress and technical efficiency significantly,technical progress is the main driving factor to promote AGTFP;(3)No matter in coastal areas or inland areas,FDI has a significant facilitation effect on AGTFP.Finally,this paper draws the conclusion of the research,and the following policy recommendations are given accordingly,mainly including: expand the scope of FDI in agriculture,strengthen the introduction of high-quality FDI,and improve the guarantee-system of FDI.
