At all stages of their development,companies may suffer losses or even go bankrupt due to their inability to recover from crises.In order to achieve long-term sustainable development,organizations need to build organizational resilience in different corporate environments at each stage of development.This study uses a case study approach to analyze the 26-year development history of the Libai and explore the process of building organizational resilience through crisis learning at different stages of development.The study finds that:(1)in the process of building organizational resilience through crisis learning,enterprises mainly rely on alternative learning before crisis,empirical learning during crisis,and reflective learning after crisis;(2)the organizational resilience built by enterprises is composed of anticipative ability before crisis,response ability during crisis,and absorbing ability after crisis;(3)enterprises move from the start-up period to the growing-up period,and then to the breakthrough period,different crisis learning processes were used to construct survival organizational resilience,growth organizational resilience,and prevention organizational resilience.This study makes theoretical contributions to the research in the field of organizational resilience and crisis learning:(1)This study proposes the different dimensions of organizational resilience that are manifested at different points in time of crisis development,and the characteristics of each dimension of organizational resilience at different stages of corporate development,further clarifies the differences and connections between learning and organizational resilience dimensions,and transforms organizational resilience from a theoretical concept into more operational organizational attributes and organizational behaviors.(2)This study proposes a division of crisis learning types from the temporal dimension of crisis,which complements the dimension of division of crisis learning types.(3)This study proposes a model of the process of building organizational resilience through crisis learning at different development stages and reveals the inner mechanism of building organizational resilience through learning.This study has practical implications for enterprises to build organizational resilience to better cope with crises. |
