During the epidemic period,some social enterprises showed great community and social participation and achieved development while solving social problems.However,many social enterprises faced great challenges,which made the social problem solvers become social problems themselves.Therefore,the way of social enterprises gets out from difficulties and deal with crises more effectively,and thus generate greater socio-economic performance,has become a hot topic in both theory and practice.Based on the theories of the resource-based theory,this study aims to explore the origin of social startups’ organizational resilience from a micro perspective.Furthermore,referencing the ideas of upper echelons theory and institutional theory,this paper proposed that the ability to break through resource constraints is the prerequisite for start-up social enterprises to cope with the rapidly changing environment and achieve prosperity and development,and the key to cultivating this ability is to build a good entrepreneurial team.On one hand,compared with individual entrepreneurship,an entrepreneurial team might gather richer knowledge,resources,and social networks,which ensure the needed knowledge and resource are reachable during the social entrepreneurship process.On another hand,the effect of 1+1>2 of an entrepreneurial team can be realized by effectively integrating and allocating the knowledge and resources of team members only.Therefore,team governance means clarifying the rights and responsibilities of team members and improving their interpersonal trust,communication and cooperation are needed to unite the entrepreneurial team as an organic whole,and thus promote the resource decision-making ability of social enterprise.Thus,based on the micro foundation perspective,this paper explored the ways of improving social entrepreneurial team efficiency through governance means,which improve the quality of resource decision-making in the entrepreneurial process,and finally enhance social start-ups’ resilience.Specifically,based on the question of how social entrepreneurial team governance promotes organizational resilience,this paper explored the mechanism of social entrepreneurial team governance on organizational resilience from the perspectives of cognition,resources,and cognition-resource respectively,and further explore the boundary conditions in the context of Chinese Acquaintances.In detail,this paper focused on the following questions:(1)how does social entrepreneurial team governance influence organizational resilience;(2)the role of team learning and resource bricolage in the effect of social entrepreneurial team governance on organizational resilience;(3)how imprinting factor of social entrepreneurship team previous relationship moderates the effects of entrepreneurial team governance on team learning resource,and bricolage respectively.To answer these questions,five typical social entrepreneurial teams were selected and the technical of case study was used to define the core constructs and to raise the initial proposition after exploring the relationships among constructions.Furthermore,based on the results of the case study and the existing theoretical basis,a research model was constructed,and hypotheses were put forward.Subsequently,this study conducted a sample questionnaire survey on the founders,shareholders,and top managers of start-up social enterprises,and the data obtained was used to verify the proposed research assumptions.The results showed that:(1)entrepreneurial team relational governance of communication and cooperation,and interpersonal trust has no significant direct effect on organizational resilience;contractual governance of clarifying rights and responsibilities has significant direct effect on organizational resilience,but the effect was small;(2)both social entrepreneurial team relational governance and contractual governance played positive effects on team learning,and resource bricolage;team learning and resource bricolage played complete intermediary roles on the effects of social entrepreneurial team relational governance on organizational resilience,but only played intermediary roles of contractual governance on organizational resilience;(3)Compared with the intermediary effects of team learning and resource bricolage,resource bricolage played more positive effects on both ways of social entrepreneurial team relational governance and contract governance on organizational resilience.However,resource bricolage ability can be improved by team learning and thus promoted organizational resilience under team relational governance;(4)relational governance means promoting team learning greater if the entrepreneurial team members were strangers,conversely,the effects of contractual governance means is better.Entrepreneurial team members previous relationships played no moderate effects on the effects of entrepreneurial team relational governance and contractual governance on resource bricolage.To conclude,this paper explored the mechanism and boundary conditions of social entrepreneurial team governance on organizational resilience in the context of start-up social enterprise getting out from development difficulties and the dynamic environment.The innovation and theoretical contributions are mainly in:(1)Taking entrepreneurial team as the research object,this paper explored the structure and dimensions of social entrepreneurial team governance,which was a new attempt to apply entrepreneurial team governance in the field of social entrepreneurship as well as enriched the research of the field;(2)this paper compared and explored the effect of social entrepreneurial team relational governance and contractual governance on the crisis response ability of start-up social enterprises,which not only revealed the micro source basis of social start-ups’ organizational resilience but also realized the selection and integration of entrepreneurial team relational governance and contractual governance;(3)The two intermediary factors,namely cognition and resources bridged the dialogue between between entrepreneurial team governance and organizational resilience,and thus revealed the "chemical reaction" process how entrepreneurial team promotes the social start-up’s organizational resilience;(4)Based on the practice of social entrepreneurship in China,entrepreneurial team members previous relationships was treated as the imprinting factor to further explore the boundary conditions of social entrepreneurial team governance on organizational resilience.The results provided not only theoretical guidance for start-up social enterprise to promote their abilities to break through development bottlenecks and cope with crises more effectively,but also facilitated the practice and the sustainable development of social entrepreneurship in China. |
