Research On Digital Transformation And Ambidextrous Innovation Performance

Innovation is a key driver of national development and has reached an unprecedented strategic position.The country attaches great importance to innovation and actively encourages enterprises to innovate.In a changing economic environment,enterprises also need to pay attention to innovation and explore how to pursue exploitative and exploratory innovation,thereby improving the level of ambidextrous innovation performance.With the rapid development of the Industrial Internet,5G and ABCD technologies,digital transformation has become an essential part of the strategic transformation of companies,a necessary route to quality development and an essential way to improve innovation performance.Building a dynamic capability will provide useful insights on how companies can improve their ambidextrous innovation performance in the digital transformation process.This paper compares the research connotations,research perspectives and current status of ambidextrous innovation performance,digital transformation and dynamic capability using the support of ambidextrous innovation theory and dynamic capability theory,empirically investigates the impact of digital transformation on ambidextrous innovation performance and its variability,and explores the mediating mechanism of dynamic capability.This paper selects A-share non-financial listed companies from 2012 to 2021 as the study sample,empirically tests the multiple linear regression model,and conducts heterogeneity test based on ownership type.The results show that:(ⅰ)digital transformation has a catalytic effect on ambidextrous innovation performance;(ⅱ)digital transformation has a stronger effect on exploitative innovation performance than on exploratory innovation performance;(ⅲ)digital transformation can positively affect ambidextrous innovation performance by increasing firms’ adaptability,absorptive capacity and innovativeness;(ⅳ)the leading effect of digital transformation on ambidextrous innovation performance holds for both state-owned and non-state-owned firms.There are no significant differences between the two types of firms in terms of improvements in exploitative innovation,while non-state-owned firms outperform state-owned firms in terms of improvements in exploratory innovation.Based on the results of the study,this paper provides management recommendations at enterprise and government level.
