Urbanization expansion is an important manifestation of regional economic growth. The urban land use of the Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan urban agglomeration increased by 1038.51 square kilometers from 1995 to 2018,while the rural residential area between urban agglomerations decreased by 4.57 square kilometers, and the agricultural land area decreased by 446.24 square kilometers. In the process of urbanization,a huge group of ’ landless peasants ’ was born.Although the ’ landless peasants ’ group has received certain monetary compensation or other economic material compensation after losing land, their livelihood model has also changed accordingly, from engaging in agricultural production and operation activities to engaging in ’ non-agricultural ’ employment.Affected by rising living costs, lack of’courtyard economy’,re-employment and other issues, the sustainability of their livelihoods has been impacted. At the same time,it has shifted from ’ rural population’to’ urban population ’,and its ability to maintain sustainable livelihoods has also been challenged. Therefore,it is of great significance to explore the livelihood changes of landless peasants after losing their land,to solve the weak sustainable livelihood ability of landless peasants, and to realize the people-oriented and urban-rural integration development. This paper takes the land-lost farmers in Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan area as the research object, based on the theory of sustainable livelihood and the theory of feasible ability, and according to the 386 sample data obtained from the field investigation of the 28 land-lost farmers’ collective resettlement sites in Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan area, the empirical research and analysis are carried out.Firstly, from the three dimensions of risk response ability, development ability and external environment support ability, the evaluation index system of sustainable livelihood ability of land-lost farmers in Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan area is constructed. The entropy method and analytic hierarchy process are used to calculate the index weight respectively, and the index combination weight is formed. Then, using the structural equation model, this paper discusses the influence mechanism of sustainable livelihood ability of landless peasants from the aspects of livelihood risk and livelihood capital,so as to explore the key factors affecting the sustainable livelihood ability of landless peasants in Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan area. The study found that:(1)the evaluation value of sustainable livelihood ability of landless peasants in Chang-Zhu-Tan area is 0.469;overall,the evaluation value of sustainable livelihood capacity is left-skewed,and the distribution is more dispersed, and there is a large variability and polarization. In terms of dimensions, the evaluation values of the three dimensions are:risk response ability(0.321)>external environmental support ability(0.103)>development ability(0.045).(2)Material capital, financial capital and social capital in livelihood capital have a significant positive impact on sustainable livelihood capacity, and the order of influence is:material capital>social capital>financial capital;the impact of human capital on sustainable livelihood capacity is not significant.(3)Livelihood risk has a significant negative effect on livelihood capital, and the order of influence is:physical capital, financial capital>human capital>social capital;at the same time, livelihood risk also indirectly has a negative impact on sustainable livelihood capacity through physical capital, social capital and financial capital in livelihood capital.(4)Whether the employment work is stable, whether the income level is improved, and whether the social welfare treatment is improved is to maintain the stability of livelihood.(5)Main factors of sustainability.Physical capital and financial capital are important factors for land-lost farmers to hedge livelihood risks.
