With the continuous progress of the industrialization and urbanization,a large number of the rural labor force has moved to the cities and towns in order to improve their economic income levels and living standards. The phenomenon of "staying in cities and keeping rural homestead" is widespread, which has caused the inefficient and vacant use of the rural homestead land.To this end,the government has carried out many effective policies. On the premise of guaranteeing the farmers’ legal rights and interests, the department concerned should fully respect the farmers’ willingness, follow the principle of voluntary and compensation and encourage the orderly withdrawal of homestead. Therefore, farmers are the behavioral subjects of homestead withdrawal, and the willingness of farmers is the key factor to promote the homestead system reform. The research of farmers’ homestead withdrawal intention can effectively promote the homestead system reform. The current researches mainly explore the impact of economic factors on farmers’ homestead withdrawal intention, but ignore the influence of the individual psychological factors, which is very biased. From the perspective of the farmers’ individual psychology, this paper probes into the actual impact of relative deprivation on farmers’homestead withdrawal intention and clears out the corresponding influence path, which plays an important role in promoting the legal and orderly homestead withdrawal, alleviating farmers’ security dependence on homestead and optimizing the spatial arrangement of rural land.In view of the existing problems in the use of homestead and the lack of research on the effect of individual psychology on farmers’homestead withdrawal intention, this article investigates thoroughly the influences of farmers’ relative deprivation on their homestead withdrawal intention.First of all,by means of combing and summarizing relevant literature at home and abroad, the concept of relative deprivation is defined, and the related influence relationship is reviewed.Secondly,on the base of the literature review, also combined with the theory of bounded rational economic man and the theory of relative deprivation, this paper constructs the theoretical analysis model of the influence path of farmers’ relative deprivation on homestead withdrawal intention and proposes the research hypothesis.Meanwhile, based on the field survey data of District A of Shanghai, the article selects the relevant variables, and also combined with the binary Logit model, the mediation effect model and the propensity score matching method, the empirical analysis was carried out to get the research conclusions. Finally, combining the empirical research conclusions and current problems, this paper puts forward effective policy recommendations. The main conclusions of this paper are as follows:First, the overall sense of relative deprivation of farmers is weak.In all dimensions, except the deprivation of daily living cost is strong, the sense of relative deprivation in other dimensions is weak.Second, the overall withdrawal intention of farmers is relatively strong, the withdrawal intention of monetary compensation is not high, and the withdrawal intention of house resettlement is positive.Third, the farmers’ sense of relative deprivation has a negative effect on their homestead withdrawal intention, and policy satisfaction plays a intermediary role in the influence process.Among them, the withdrawal intention under different policies in the influence path corresponds to the satisfaction evaluation of different policies.Fourth, because of the different identities,inter-generations and homestead location, the farmers’ sense of relative deprivation has different effects on their withdrawal intention. In view of the existing problems in homestead utilization and withdrawal, combined with empirical analysis, this paper puts forward the following policy suggestions:The first is to do a good job in the security work after withdrawal,to alleviate the farmers’ sense of relative deprivation fundamentally. The second is to formulate the compensation policies which is both scientific and reasonable, also rich and diversified to improve farmers’ policies satisfaction. The third is to strengthen the popularization and publicity of policies to guide the farmers forming the reasonable policy expectations.
