Since the reform and opening up,China’s socialist market economy has achieved rapid development, its overall national strength has been greatly enhanced, and the people’s material and spiritual living standards have undergone earth-shaking changes. However, behind the rapid economic development and the bigger economic cake, the fruits of reform, opening up and development fail to fully benefit all the people, that is,the income distribution gap continues widening. If the widening gap between the rich and the poor can not be effectively contained in time, the gap between the poor will lead to the total shortage of consumption demand, thus inhibiting economic growth, and thus bring about a series of social problems and aggravating social contradictions. However,if we discuss the "moderate" and "excessive" issues of the gap between the poor only based on objective economic data and indicators,we are never unable to know to what extent the gap is "moderate",and the appropriate state between the rich and the poor needs to be recognized by the vast majority of people in society. Therefore, compared with the objective state of the gap gap, this paper focuses on the perception and tolerance of the gap, because the emotions and support of the people will have a more profound impact on the political stability of a society.Focusing on the policy significance of "the impact of the gap perception on politics" on people’s livelihood, this paper focuses on the impact of the gap perception on government performance evaluation.Based on the existing research,we study the impact of the rich and poor gap perception on government performance evaluation by using the 2018 Chinese family tracking survey data. The research content mainly has the following points: First, explain the realistic background of the perception of the gap between the poor on government performance evaluation, and briefly describe the research purpose and significance of this paper.Second, study the relevant documents at home and abroad, and determine the research ideas, research content, research methods and research innovation points and difficulties of this paper.Third, descriptive statistical analysis of the relevant variables using the 2018 CFPS data.Fourth, the Probit model is used to discuss the relationship between rich gap perception and government performance evaluation;Secondly, with the tool variables, namely the social status and income level,to discuss the influence of subjective identification class on government, and finally, the orderly Probit model on government performance evaluation rating.Fifth, take a variety of methods to test the robustness of the empirical results. The conclusion of this paper is as follows:(1)Rich gap perception is an important factor affecting the government performance evaluation, and the rich gap gap perception has a significant negative impact on the government performance evaluation. The worse the perception of the gap between the rich and the poor will not only reduce the probability of giving a positive evaluation of government performance, but also reduce the level of a positive evaluation of government performance, which in a sense implies the potential threat of the public’s perception of the gap to political and social stability.(2)The subjective social status of people and income level on the perceived difference, that is,the lower the subjective identity of social status and income level, the worse the perceived gap between the poor, which shows that people subjective cognitive evaluation of their social status and income will affect its view of the social gap between the rich and the poor,so as to further affect the political trust level.According to the research conclusion, this paper puts forward the following three suggestions:(1)the government should increase the efforts to "rob the rich and help the poor".(2)The government should use expansionary monetary policy.(3)The government should reform unreasonable policies and improve the efficiency of resource allocation.
