The continuous progress of artificial intelligence technology has realized the integration and development of traditional industries, realized the modernization transition of the industry, and injected new impetus into the high-quality economic development. At the same time, with the diversification and realization of services, service trade has also become an important direction of the development of many countries, and its competitiveness can already reflect the comprehensive strength and international competitiveness of countries. The RCEP signed in November 2020 as a regional free trade agreement has brought new opportunities for the development of trade in services among member countries.Chinese Premier Li Keqiang once said in his speech. We need to strengthen ai cooperation, apply our research results to the service sector and other sectors, and foster new drivers of growth. Therefore, this paper takes RCEP member countries as examples to explore the impact of AI application on the competitiveness of trade in services. This paper first introduces the overall development level of the artificial intelligence and the trade in services in the RCEP member states, and focuses on the development of the artificial intelligence and the trade in services in China, and analyzes the problems and obstacles that the artificial intelligence may encounter in the process of promoting the development of the service trade, including unemployment caused by the application of artificial intelligence, institutional obstacles in the process of social labor flow, unbalanced development of countries and barriers to trade in services.Secondly, supported by the relevant theories and concepts of artificial intelligence and trade in services, this paper classifies the trade in service in terms of comparative advantages and competitive advantages, and measures the competitiveness of service trade of RCEP member states.Considering the defects of a single index in the measurement, this paper combines multiple relevant indexes to establish an index system. In addition, this paper uses a panel data model to explore whether AI applications affect a country’s service trade competitiveness by affecting the employment rate in the service industry. The empirical results of this paper show that the application of artificial intelligence makes more labor force shift to the service sector, promotes the development of producer services and the improvement of employment rate in the service sector, and the expansion of service scale and deepening of specialization promote the continuous enhancement of service trade competitiveness. In addition, further research in this paper shows that there is heterogeneity in the impact of AI application on the development of different factor-intensive trade in services.Based on this, the following countermeasures should be taken to play the role of artificial intelligence application in promoting the development of service trade: First,we should promote technological innovation and guide the application of artificial intelligence technology;second, increase capital investment and expand the industrial scale;third, cultivate professionals, consolidate human capital;fourth, increase investment in new Internet infrastructure and improve relevant industry norms.Fifth,we will actively open up to the outside world, open trade, and promote domestic service trade rules in line with international standards.Sixth,we will improve the employment service system and promote labor mobility. Finally, the government should make good use of macro-control policies, constantly improve the business environment, and relieve the healthy and rapid development of AI enterprises.
