| In the early 21 st century, with the introduction of concepts such as green supply chain and eco-efficiency,the main body of CSR practice changed from individual enterprises to supply chain, and the term supply chain social responsibility was widely mentioned. With the global economic integration and the intensification of competition, supply chain social responsibility has become an important influencing factor in the success and development of member enterprises. The awareness and practice of social responsibility are transmitted among supply relationships, and any member in the supply chain with social responsibility deficiency behavior will bring losses to the interests of other members.According to social network theory,a firm’s behavior and decisions are not only related to its attributes but also depend on the supply chain network in which it is embedded. The social responsibility of supply chain members is therefore also influenced by the structure of the supply chain network.Based on this, the thesis further explores the influencing factors of member companies’ social responsibility performance from the perspective of supply chain networks.A dominant position in the supply chain network indicates greater power and influence, and this power affects the social responsibility performance of members in different ways. The article first analyzes the relationship between network centrality and core CSR performance from an empirical perspective, and then analyzes the relationship between network centrality and supplier CSR performance,in addition,to moderating variables such as firm size, industry competition, customer bargaining power, high pollution industry attributes of suppliers, and network density are selected in each of the two parts of the study to explore the moderating effects on the above relationships. The thesis collects data on the top five suppliers and customers disclosed by listed companies in Shanghai and Shenzhen Stock Exchange from 2010 to 2016 as a sample. The empirical results show that the degree of centrality of core enterprises in the supply chain network has a significant contribution to their social responsibility performance of themselves, while the relationship between closeness centrality and betweenness centrality and social responsibility performance is influenced by the industry in which the core enterprises are located, and the size of core enterprises, industry competition, and network density have a positive contribution to the relationship between the above two, which can further enhance the positive impact of network centrality of core enterprises on the social responsibility performance of themselves.Apart from this, the results also show that the greater the network centrality of customers in the supply chain network, the more obvious the promotion effect on supplier CSR performance, when the suppliers belong to high pollution industry and the increase of network density will improve the positive effect of customers network centrality on supplier CSR performance, however, the increase of customer bargaining power shows a negative moderating effect on the relationship between the above two. |
