A Research Of The Impact Of Trade Facilitation In The Belt And Road Countries On The Export Technology Complexity Of China’s Electromechanical Industry

In 2013,Chinese President Xi Jinping raised the initiative of jointly building “Silk Road Economic Belt ”and “the 21 st Century Maritime Silk Road”,with the promotion of “policy communication,facility connectivity,unimpeded trade,financial integration and people-to-people bonds” as its main goals.Among these five goals,unimpeded trade is one of cooperation priorities.To achieve this priority goal,the key is to improve trade facilitation in all related countries.Trade facilitation,including port efficiency,customs environment,cross-border e-commerce and institutional environment,has become increasingly important for reducing trade costs.The trade facilitation of “the Belt and Road” countries has to be improved.At the same time,affected by the Sino-US trade war,China’s exports,which have long relied on the US market,have been suppressed.The domestic export industry urgently needs to tap new market potential and focus on industrial transformation and upgrading to ensure the sustained and stable growth of China’s export trade.The electromechanical industry is a core part of China’s manufacturing industry.In 2010,China became the world’s largest exporter of electromechanical products.Due to the impact of Sino-US trade friction on the export of electromechanical products,China’s electromechanical industry has long been at the low end of the value chain and is in urgent need of transformation and upgrading.Requirements,combined with the status quo that the "Belt and Road" market has continuously increased the export share of China’s mechanical and electrical products,this article selects China and 58 countries along the "Belt and Road" as the main body of the research,and chooses to be very representative of China’s export products in industry selection.Taking trade facilitation as the starting point to study the impact of trade facilitation on the export technology complexity of China’s electromechanical industry,to explore whether trade facilitation will promote the transformation and upgrading of China’s electromechanical industry and the magnitude of its effect.Based on the research of domestic and foreign scholars on trade facilitation and the complexity of export technology,this paper sorts out the theoretical mechanism of the impact of trade liberalization on the complexity of export technology.A quantitative evaluation index system for the country’s trade facilitation level,and at the same time,using the method of Hausmann(2007)to use the data under the HS quintile to calculate China’s export technical complexity index to countries along the “Belt and Road” Panel data regression model,and finally carry out enterprise heterogeneity analysis and robustness test,get relevant conclusions,and put forward suggestions and references for the market transformation of China’s electromechanical industry and the improvement of export technology based on the conclusions.
