| Big data and other information technologies drive social change, digital trade is becoming an important part of digital economy and an important driving force for new economic growth. It is also an important trend of global trade development in the future.Digital trade not only reduces trade costs and improves trade efficiency, but also changes the mode of trade and increases the types and quantity of tradable goods. In addition, digital trade is also of great practical significance to prevent risks such as trade barriers and information asymmetry and to promote the progress of the global value chain. In the meantime,we note that in recent years,in international trade,in addition to the vigorous development of trade in industrial products, trade in agricultural products has also developed very rapidly, and some important agricultural exporting countries have begun to shift from focusing on the export scale of agricultural products to focusing on their structural optimization and quality improvement, especially at a time when global problems such as food security and climatic change are becoming increasingly prominent,The issue of requiring agricultural production to improve the technical content and realize the sustainably green development of agricultural industry and trading has drawn more and more attention. The integration of advanced digital trade and traditional industries is imperative. The integration development in the field of industrial manufactured products is obvious, and there are rich achievements in the research field. However, there is still little research literature on agriculture and how to use digital trade to improve the export quality and competitiveness of agricultural products.Hence, this thesis concentrates upon the influence of digital trade on agricultural products export from the perspective of how digital trade affects the technical complexity of agricultural products export. It is expected that the problems it solves will help to offset the study gap in this domain. It will also help China to provide policy support for the integrated development of digital Trade and agriculture.Firstly, this thesis teases out the relevant literature on the technical complexity of agricultural products export and digital trade.not only summarizes the existing concepts, measurement methods and economic effects of digital trade, but also finds many factors affecting the technical complexity of agricultural products export; Then, combining existing theories, this paper discusses the impact mechanism of digital trade on the technical complexity of agricultural products export; Then, taking 40 countries around the world as samples,18 indicators are selected from six dimensions by factor analysis to build a comprehensive index system to evaluate and analyze the development of digital trade in various countries in recent years;Using the measurement method of export technology complexity for reference, this paper quantifies the technical content and international competitiveness of agricultural products export; Finally,it empirically tests the impact and mechanism of digital trade on the technical complexity of agricultural exports through fixed effect and intermediary effect. In view of the research conclusions, offering some policy advice for the development of digital trade in our country and optimization of agricultural export quality. The research conclusions of this thesis reveal that:(1)Except for individual years affected by the global economic situation, the technical complexity of agricultural products export and digital trade was rising steadily from 2005 to 2019.Specifically,the technical complexity of agricultural products export and digital trade in developing countries was significantly less than that in developed countries, but the latecomer momentum of developing countries was strong.(2)Digital trade has a prominently positive effect on increasing the technological complexity of agricultural exports.Countries with high levels of digital trade have high technical complexity of agricultural products export, but there are industrial and national differences, that is,the impact of digital trade on processed agricultural products is slightly greater than that of land and labor-intensive,the impact on developed countries is marginally greater than that on developing countries. The role of digital trade in improving the technical complexity of agricultural exports of developing countries has not been fully demonstrated.(3)Scientific and technological innovation, trade in imported intermediate goods and supply chain finance have played a certain intermediary effect in the process of digital trade affecting the technical complexity of export agricultural products.Scientific and technological innovation,as the most direct factor affecting the technical complexity of agricultural exports, plays the most important role in the process of digital trade promoting the technical complexity of agricultural export products;supply chain financial services provide a source of funds for agricultural development and support agricultural scientific and technological innovation, which also plays a role that cannot be underestimated;but at the same time, the improvement of the technical complexity of agricultural exports still relies on traditional intermediate product imports. |
