In the context of new media,short video has become the main carrier of information sharing and dissemination.Short video platform has become an important venue for people to receive and transmit information,exchange views,engage in conflict and release emotions,playing an important role in the field of public communication.After the occurrence of disaster events,people’s emotions will fluctuate and produce negative emotions such as unease,panic and anxiety.How to comfort and guide people through disaster short videos by mainstream media has become an important issue.This paper takes the emotional communication as the starting point,takes the Douyin account of Daxiang News,a local mainstream media in Henan Province,as an example,selects 255 short videos of directly hitting the rainstorm in Henan province released by this account during the 720 Rainstorm in Henan Province as the main research samples,conducts content analysis and text analysis on them,and summarizes the emotional communication strategies of short disaster videos in mainstream media.After that,we analyzed the effect of emotional communication through in-depth interview.By analyzing the characters,themes,symbols and sources of the Daxiang News 720 short video on torrential rain,this paper summarizes the emotional communication strategies of the disaster short video on mainstream media.Including content strategies: focusing on personal stories and inspiring emotional resonance;Establish a typical image and transmit positive emotion;Focus on rescue themes and channel negative emotions.Symbol strategy: Use words,visual and auditory emotional symbols to create an emotional atmosphere;Narrative strategy: the combination of official perspective and personal perspective,the unity of fact and emotion,the popular discourse narrative.The emotional communication effect of the mainstream media disaster short video is reflected in two aspects: emotional identification and emotional mobilization.The virtual presence of the audience in the short video transmission of Henan rainstorm disaster and their shared emotional experience strengthen their identity and form an emotional community about rainstorm disaster events.Through the emotional mobilization of short disaster videos,we can gather emotional power,trigger people’s emotional support for victims and rescuers,and stimulate and cultivate people’s patriotism and feelings of home and country in the communication environment of disaster events.
