| Since the reform and opening up,China’s economy has developed rapidly and the scale of its manufacturing industry has continuously expanded.Since 2010,China has maintained an international leading position in manufacturing output.However,the problem of China’s manufacturing industry’s excessive dependence on population welfare and resource consumption has always existed.The overall output efficiency of the manufacturing industry is low,and the product added value is not high,leading to the development of China’s manufacturing industry has always been large and not strong.“Made in China 2025”clearly proposes to “promote the deep integration of informatization and industrialization as the main line,vigorously develop intelligent manufacturing,and build an industrial ecosystem and new manufacturing models under the conditions of informatization”.Upgrading the manufacturing industry requires abandoning the traditional production mode of large-scale labor investment,and using emerging technologies such as big data,information technology,and artificial intelligence as internal driving forces to promote China’s transition from a“manufacturing power” to a “manufacturing power”.Therefore,driven by the fourth technological revolution,it is of great significance to study the impact of artificial intelligence on the upgrading of the manufacturing industry.This article first reviews and summarizes domestic and foreign literature related to artificial intelligence and manufacturing upgrading,and conducts a theoretical analysis of the impact of artificial intelligence on manufacturing upgrading based on the research direction of this article;Secondly,based on existing data analysis of the current development status of artificial intelligence,a manufacturing upgrading level evaluation index system was established in five dimensions: structural optimization,technological innovation,green development,economic benefits,and information technology.The entropy method was used to measure the manufacturing upgrading level;Finally,we empirically analyze the impact of AI on the upgrading of manufacturing industry through panel data of 30 regions in China from 2009 to 2019.Through research,the following conclusions are drawn in this article: firstly,the level of artificial intelligence and manufacturing upgrading in China is on the rise year by year,but there are significant regional differences;Secondly,the improvement of artificial intelligence level helps to enhance China’s manufacturing upgrading index;Thirdly,the promoting effect of artificial intelligence on the upgrading of manufacturing industry is mainly reflected in the western and eastern regions,and the impact of artificial intelligence on the upgrading of manufacturing industry in the western region is slightly more significant than that in the eastern region.Based on the research results,this article proposes the following suggestions: firstly,strengthen the construction of high-end talent teams,optimize the structure of human capital,and promote the free flow and sharing of talents between regions.Secondly,promote technological innovation,promote the integration of intelligent industries,and deepen the integration and development of artificial intelligence and manufacturing industries.Thirdly,adjust measures to local conditions,promote the coordinated development of artificial intelligence applications and manufacturing regions,actively leverage the advantages of each region,and promote the upgrading of the manufacturing industry. |
