City is a symbol of the maturity of human civilization,bearing the history and culture of mankind.In the process of urban economic development,scale expansion,and spatial expansion,the connotation of a city gradually extends further in terms of culture and public services.Therefore,a city has become an important support for a region to seek survival and development.The image of a city is a comprehensive reflection of its development level,civilization level,and spiritual outlook,and is a crucial aspect of enhancing its competitiveness.The subway is an important means of transportation in cities,with its advantages of speed,safety,and green,providing convenience for people’s travel.Mc Luhan proposed that media is the extension of human beings.As the extension of human feet,subway is not only a means of transportation,but also an important medium of communication.It plays an invisible role in transmitting urban information and constructing urban image.Based on the theories of pan media,urban communication,and CIS,the thesis regards the subway as a medium that constructs meaning and carries information dissemination functions.Taking the public space of Taiyuan subway as the research object,it adopts the methods of field investigation and in-depth interviews to deeply explore the role of Taiyuan subway in the process of constructing the image of Taiyuan city.The study found that the operation concept of Taiyuan Metro is in line with the urban development concept of Taiyuan,and interacts organically with the urban concept image,which is itself a display window for the urban image of Taiyuan.From a behavioral perspective,the subway transmits urban information through various means such as corporate communication,mass communication,and interpersonal communication,creating and constructing a comprehensive image of Taiyuan.At the same time,Taiyuan Metro also uses basic and application elements such as subway logos,subway mascots,subway station names,subway buildings,and employee clothing to vividly display and construct the image of Taiyuan city at the visual level.It is worth noting that in the process of constructing Taiyuan’s urban image,there are also obvious shortcomings,such as the homogenization of subway spatial visual presentation and weak impact;The cultural function is biased towards form,and the continuous guarantee is insufficient;Media content is monotonous,repetitive,and lacking in innovation;Lack of public participation leads to poor dissemination of urban image.In order to assist in the construction and dissemination of Taiyuan’s urban image,further attention needs to be paid to the following aspects: strengthening visual impact,optimizing the presentation of urban regional characteristics;Deeply excavate historical and cultural values to create a creative urban space;Breaking through inherent thinking and innovating communication methods;"Audience" refers to "use" and attaches importance to the role of the user as the main body. |
