Labor Alienation:Internet Workers Under The Technical Discipline Of Time And Space

Internet industry is popular with the contemporary young people obtain employment domain,is also a hot topic,academia,media attention in recent years,the Internet industry employees such as sudden death news,behind its shiny appearance is a delegate with 996 working system of the high strength work,it also caused a public reflection of enterprise internal labor production system for the Internet.This study selects Company J as a case and reinterprets the alienated labor process of employees in Internet companies today from the three dimensions of space,time and technology.Through research,it is found that in terms of spatial structure,Company J places the ubiquitous power--vision in a flat and open pattern,and this vision makes the workers agree that they can only work in the working area and need to go to the bathroom for rest.As an unconscious reality,spatial existence alienates the individual.This is also the first step to promote employees to alienated labor.Instead of being controlled by external forces,employees are self-disciplined and become individuals who work continuously at their workstations.In terms of time dimension,J company invented a new social time through the creation of 996 and flexible working system,and used the performance system design with clear rewards and punishments and group competition to stimulate laborers.Using the control of laborers’ money,J company was blurred.The existence of time also unrestrictedly obtains the surplus value of laborers.At the same time,the study analyzed the alienation of Internet companies under the division of labor and cooperation from the perspective of labor production.The invisible production machine concealed labor products and eliminated laborers’ time.Under the time control strategy of J Company,the production products,labor behavior,nature of production,and labor time of laborers are all alienated from laborers.This is also the manifestation of labor alienation in this era.In addition,this research analyzes the numerous constraints imposed on workers by J Company as an Internet company’s institutional structure from a technical point of view.As efficiency promoters,the company’s collaborative software app Feishu,the scientific OKR system,and the “replacement” of the personnel elimination system,under the establishment of an absolutely equal and open corporate culture,these technical tools have become a symbol of the supreme science in the company’s system.People have also become “Goal people” whose performance is quantified,“Tool people” pushed away by Feishu,and “Digital people” in the OKR scorer.In this process,digital as a structural hegemony prevents individual workers from making any resistance to the legitimacy of J Company as a scientific enslavement machine.This also reveals that the inherent technological structure of the Internet industry makes workers fall into Labor alienation characterized by digitization is also the biggest feature of labor alienation in current Internet companies.Faced with the embedded structure of labor alienated individuals under digitization,free laborers not only face the alienation of labor status,but also face the alienation of spirit,communication,and individual subjectivity,so that "Dagong" is regarded as the noumenon of work,Regard "Digital people" as human existenceFinally,this research responds to the social acceleration theory put forward under the new "alienation" defined by Rosa from the level of domestic political economy in China.When Internet companies and their industries gradually become part of the basic structure of Chinese society,three types of acceleration Technological acceleration and social acceleration in China are abandoning the acceleration of individual life pace.Technological acceleration and social acceleration are more closely connected to each other and influence each other.Individuals are pulled and obeyed by technological acceleration and social acceleration under "new alienation".This is also the actual basis for the existence and continuation of the alienated labor phenomenon.If the gradual integration of technological acceleration and social acceleration cannot be structurally broken,the individual will never be able to get rid of the alienated situation.The resonance that Rosa seeks is only the cultural level of "scratch".
