Nowadays,family education is more and more important,and parents’ education concept is the vital factor that affects the quality of family education.Children in junior high school especially need their parents to uphold the concept of scientific family education and provide scientific family education.The reality,however,is not ideal.How to help the parents of junior high school students to transform the unscientific educational concept has become a problem that adult education needs to solve.This study takes the transformative learning theory as the supporting theory,and the three stages of trigger,reflection and integration of the transformative learning theory as the analytical framework.After interviews with 12 junior middle school parents,the study selected 4 parents with relatively clear and rich educational concept transformation process as research cases to narrate and analyze their stories.The research findings are as follows: first,the formation of junior high school parents’ original educational concept is based on parents’ personal background —parents’ interpersonal environment,past experience and personal quality.The personal background of parents will also lay the foundation,accumulate strength and increase opportunities for the trigger of the change of educational concept,and influence the depth of reflection and the effect of integration.Second,when parents get strong feedback from their children,directly face their children’s unsatisfactory situation,participate in children’s role playing activities,transform their perspective and get exposed to different educational concepts,parents will be surprised by cognitive conflict,the occurrence of no or few events and the sudden occurrence of events,and will be triggered in the surprise and automatically enter the reflection stage.Thirdly,parents in the reflection stage need sufficient and undisturbed time.At this time,parents will unconsciously recall the past words and deeds,empathize with their children,explain the past educational words and deeds and gradually accept the real appearance of their children under the drive of emotion.Fourthly,after reflection,parents should take corresponding actions according to the transformed new educational concepts in the integration stage,and adjust their ideas according to the feedback of actions.In general,the change of parents’ educational concept of junior high school students is a process in which parents discover the real children,the real parents and the real educational rules,and transform the original educational concept which should be combined with reality but divorced from reality into a new educational concept which recombines reality.In order to promote the parents of junior high school students to transform their unscientific educational concepts,the study proposes the following supporting strategies for the parents of junior high school students to transform their educational concepts according to the educational concept transformation mechanism of junior high school students: First,before the trigger,strengthen the publicity of science education concepts,strengthen the cultivation of critical thinking and open thinking,help parents adjust their mentality,and parents take the initiative to learn science education concepts.Second,in the trigger stage,create a candid communication situation,show the child’s real situation through others,organize parents to participate in role playing activities,parents actively understand the child’s real situation.Third,in the reflection stage,guide parents to recall and narrative the memory,help parents comprehend words and deeds,and help parents accept the real children.Fourthly,in the integration stage,help parents clarify the educational behavior to be implemented and help parents comprehend and respond to the feedback of their children. |
