Erikson proposed in the theory of social personality development that the fourth stage is the incubation period, which is the stage in which teenagers avoid feeling inferior and gain a sense of diligence. At this stage, teenagers mainly receive school education. If they can successfully complete academic tasks, they will gain a sense of diligence, which can make them confident in their future life and work.Conversely, they will develop a sense of inferiority, believing that they are inferior to others. In this sense, the academic performance of children and adolescents is particularly important, and the family plays a crucial role in it.Coleman,a sociology professor at the University of Chicago in the United States, also pointed out in his report on equal educational opportunities that the main factor affecting adolescent learning is family. However, the current situation of rural family education in China is not optimistic, mainly manifested in: firstly, the lack of reasonable educational expectations, many rural families do not understand their children’s abilities and development characteristics, blindly setting unrealistic educational expectations for their children, which has dampened their confidence;Secondly, neglecting the spiritual attention of their children.Rural parents often have low levels of education and only focus on meeting their children’s material needs, neglecting communication and communication with them.Being busy supporting the family makes it difficult for them to find time to accompany their children mentally;Thirdly, due to the absence of necessary family education, many rural families divide their labor into earning money for their fathers to support their families, while their mothers work in agriculture to take care of their children. The family education received by their children is uneven, and the father’s role in family education has been lacking for a long time, resulting in imbalanced family education for their children.Poor rural family education leads to negative psychological states such as loneliness, inferiority, utilitarianism, and negative personality traits among adolescents, resulting in academic burnout.Learning burnout can harm the positive development of adolescents, reduce the quality of talent cultivation and population quality, and is not conducive to the development of the country and society.Based on this, this study, from the perspective of educational psychology, analyzes the current situation and characteristics of the relevant variables of rural family education-parental education expectations and parental education involvement, and further discusses the influencing factors of these two variables on teenagers’ learning burnout,so as to propose relevant countermeasures to improve rural family education. The study first used literature analysis to select two variables related to adolescent learning burnout that best reflect rural family education issues: parental education expectations and parental education involvement.Secondly, using a questionnaire survey method,908 students and parents from four schools in two counties of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region were selected as the research subjects to conduct a survey. The current situation of parents’ educational expectations and involvement in education was analyzed, and the relationship between the two and their impact on adolescent learning burnout was analyzed. The following conclusions were drawn:Firstly, the overall education status of rural households is at a moderate level.Specifically reflected in:(1)Parents have low educational expectations, with only 14.86% expecting their children to achieve a master’s or doctoral degree, and only 19.71% expecting their children to achieve a score of 91 or above in the next semester;(2)The involvement of parental education is average, mainly reflected in family monitoring, with less involvement in academic counseling,parent-child communication, joint activities, and home school communication;(3)There are significant differences in parental educational expectations and involvement in gender, grade, and parental identity.Specifically, rural parents have significantly higher expectations for girls’ education than boys;Parents’ involvement in academic counseling, home school communication, and overall education for girls is significantly lower than that of boys.Rural parents have the highest educational expectations for sixth grade students and the lowest for seventh grade students; In addition to involvement in parent-child communication, rural parents have the highest involvement in other dimensions and overall for fifth grade students, and the lowest involvement in ninth grade students.Rural fathers have significantly lower expectations for their children’s education than mothers, and their involvement in their children’s education is significantly lower than that of mothers.Secondly, there is a significant positive correlation between rural parents’ educational expectations and educational involvement, that is,the higher the parents’ educational expectations, the more parents’ educational involvement.Thirdly, there is a significant negative correlation between rural parents’ educational expectations, educational involvement, and adolescent learning burnout, indicating that rural family education is related to adolescent burnout, specifically manifested as:(1)There is a significant negative correlation between parental educational expectations and learning burnout, that is,the higher parental educational expectations, the lower the level of learning burnout;(2)There is a significant negative correlation between parental education involvement and adolescent learning burnout, that is,the more parental education involvement, the lower the level of learning burnout.Fourthly, parental educational involvement plays a partial mediating role in the impact of parental educational expectations on adolescent learning burnout, that is,parental educational expectations can have a direct or indirect impact on adolescent learning burnout through educational involvement.Fifthly, parental education expectation will affect parental education involvement through family socioeconomic status, and then negatively predict students’ learning burnout. The results of this study suggest that rural family education urgently needs to be improved. In order to address the learning fatigue of adolescents and promote their positive development, schools and relevant government departments can optimize parental education expectations and establish good parent-child relationships from the following three aspects:;Balancing the involvement of parental education in content and assuming necessary educational responsibilities;Strengthen support for rural families and improve basic educational conditions.
