Research On Improving The Service Ability Of Young Elderly Volunteers Through Group Work Interventio

As China is entering an " ageing" society,how to give full play to the strengths and potential of the elderly to achieve a sense of fun and worthiness in old age has become a hot topic of discussion in society.The participation of the elderly in volunteer services can bring into play the remaining enthusiasm of the elderly,alleviate the pressure brought by the aging of the population,and realize the reuse of the resources of the elderly.The elderly,especially the younger ones,have rich life experience,good physical fitness and sufficient leisure time to participate in volunteer activities.At present,more and more elderly people are participating in voluntary services,but due to the objective and subjective conditions,most of the young elderly volunteers have weak knowledge and skills,insufficient service capacity and low service level,which will not only affect the effectiveness of voluntary activities,but also cause the waste of elderly people’s resources.Social work and volunteering are in the same vein,and it has unique advantages in promoting the professional development of junior elderly volunteers.Therefore,from the perspective of social work,this article investigates and evaluates the current service situation and service capacity of the younger elderly volunteers,and addresses their lack of service capacity through the intervention of social work professional methods.The article takes the S community elderly volunteers in Qingdao as the research object and explores the effectiveness of using group work methods to enhance the volunteering capacity of this group under the guidance of enrichment theory and social learning theory.The researcher used literature review,questionnaires and semi-structured interviews to collect data and analyse the problems and causes of this group’ s service capacity.On the basis of considering the needs of group members,seven group activities were carried out from three aspects of self-cognition,volunteer service knowledge and volunteer service skills,aiming to help group members establish correct self-cognition,enrich volunteer knowledge and skills,and improve their volunteer capacity.Through the scale test and subjective evaluation,it was found that group work played a unique role in improving the service ability of the younger older volunteers,and the group members’ service ability was significantly improved.In general,the use of group work has certain advantages in enhancing the service capacity of the older volunteers,but there are also some shortcomings.In order to better exploit the effectiveness of group work,the workers put forward some suggestions,such as meeting the individual needs of group members with reference to case studies,linking multiple resources to strengthen the intervention,and providing good follow-up services,in order to promote the application and development of group work in the field of enhancing the service capacity of junior elderly volunteers.
