At present,the number of elderly people is rising,and the state advocates active aging and healthy aging,and pays great attention to the elderly group.Volunteering can help young retirees achieve role transition and continue to realize the value of life;At the same time,it can continue to contribute to the society,achieve the goal of "doing something for the elderly,and having fun for the elderly",participate in community governance,and improve the level of community governance.At the same time,with the continuous improvement of the quality of China’s population,volunteer service has flourished,the number of volunteers has been increasing,and volunteer service organizations have been increasing.The state has issued a number of documents related to volunteer service,standardizes volunteer service,continuously improves the volunteer service system,and creates conditions for the development of volunteer service.There are many subjects of volunteer service,including children,young people and the elderly,and the young retired elderly have gradually become the main force of volunteer service.Compared with other groups,young retired elderly people have stable income,relatively good physical fitness,and have more time and energy to participate in volunteer services;At the same time,the young retired elderly have a certain ability to continue learning,which is conducive to participating in the activities organized by social workers.In this study,questionnaires,semi-structured interviews,and participatory observation were used to collect and analyse data.The study found that there are many problems in volunteer service in community G,which are mainly manifested in insufficient volunteer service ability of young retired elderly people who participate in volunteer service: insufficient communication skills,insufficient teamwork skills,insufficient planning organization and coordination skills,and perhaps these abilities of young retired elderly people are not lacking in other aspects,but these abilities are insufficient in participating in volunteer service.Based on the understanding and analysis of the current situation of young retired elderly people in community G participating in volunteer service and the shortcomings and causes of volunteer service capacity,this study adopted a combination of online and offline recruitment methods,and selected eight young retired elderly people to form a group to carry out volunteer service capacity improvement practice.This study adopts the group work method,guided by the empowerment theory,and designs seven group activities to empower the young retired elderly from the individual,interpersonal level and environmental level,and improve their communication skills,teamwork skills,and plan organization and coordination skills.Through the evaluation,it is found that the communication ability,teamwork ability and planning organization and coordination ability of the young retired elderly have been improved to different degrees,and the set goals of the group have basically been achieved and good results have been achieved.The study found that group work guided by the empowerment theory can improve the volunteering ability of young retired elderly.This study reflects on working methods,results achieved and practical processes.Finally,the path of improving volunteer service ability is proposed from different perspectives,which provides reference for improving volunteer service ability and promoting the development of volunteer service.
