In recent years, there has been an increase in the number of college students volunteers, especially in the strong support of relevant institutions such as the government and the active publicity and reporting of mass media.More and more college students have participated in voluntary service activities.Under the booming environment of university volunteer service, there are also some common problems, such as lack of continuity of education and training, weak emergency volunteer service ability, poor service experience and other professional levels. To solve these problems,it is urgent to enhance the professional ability level of voluntary service. This study uses practical methods of social work to improve the professional ability of college students’ volunteer service, strengthens the depth and breadth of research on the specialization of volunteer service, summarizes the practice model for college volunteers to improve the professional level of volunteer service, and provides scientific basis for government departments to formulate relevant social welfare policies. This paper relies on Maslow’s hierarchy of needs theory to analyze the needs of service objects, uses the theory of group dynamics to carry out group activities, uses the theory of social learning to stimulate the potential of team members, and uses the methods of questionnaire survey, interview and participant observation to carry out relevant research,so as to improve the professional ability level of volunteer service. This paper is divided into six parts: the first part describes the research background, purpose and significance, research overview at home and abroad, research ideas and research methods. The second part introduces the related concepts and the theoretical basis of the research. The third part analyzes and evaluates the status quo, problems and causes of the volunteer professional ability of J University. The fourth part introduces the group work intervention process and the practice of improving the professional ability of college students’ volunteer service. The fifth part evaluates and reflects on the group’s work results. The sixth part summarizes the whole group intervention process and puts forward reasonable suggestions. The research shows that the curriculum setting of the situational simulation model can promote the transition from professional skills learning to voluntary service practice, deepen the understanding of college volunteers, and make up for the shortcomings of traditional knowledge teaching. The intervention method of group work is conducive to exercise the service ability of college students volunteers in interactive communication and experience sharing, and inject peer support into the process of professional ability cultivation.Through the intervention of social workers, the service skills of college volunteers are gradually improved from three aspects:cognitive transformation, skill learning and practical exercise.Due to the impact of the epidemic, volunteers are unable to practice volunteer service activities inside and outside the school. Therefore, the effect evaluation of the professional level of volunteer service ability is mainly to observe the practice in the scenario simulation. Therefore, volunteers may have temporary learning and memory. For future research,we need to pay more attention to the actual mastery of professional knowledge and skills, and pay attention to the effect of testing practical activities.
