| China has set the goal of becoming a museum powerhouse by 2035.As a distinctive type of museum, the open air museum can play an important role in the off-site conservation of reconstructed architectural heritage and in the presentation and education of traditional folklife.Although China has abundant resources to build open-air museums, the overall development of open air museum in China is still in its infancy. How to make open-air museums better adapted to our national conditions and achieve sustainable development is still being explored. In order to promote the diversity of museums in China,it is necessary to conduct an in-depth study of the current situation and development of open air museums in China. On the basis of the definition of open air museums, this paper compares the history and the main institutions in China, selects a representative open air museum in China, the Sinan Open Air Museum,as a practical case study, and examines the architectural conservation, exhibition and display,as well as educational activities and cultural and creative products of this open-air museum,so as to analyze the current situation of open-air museums in China. The study found that there is still a lack of long-term maintenance,a lack of living displays and participatory education, and excessive commercialization of open air museums in China. The lack of authenticity and integrity of architectural heritage, economic and time constraints, and traditional perceptions are the main factors hindering the development of open air museums in China. In order to realize the sustainable development of open air museums in China in the future, this paper combines actual cases from home and abroad, and tries to propose the solutions of systematic planning, exploring the virtuous cycle of operation models, and absorbing the strengths of traditional museums to realize the diversified development of open-air museums themselves. It is hoped that open-air museums will have more diverse applications and broader development prospects in the future. |
