Research On The Acquisition Mode Of Open Access Academic Books

As publishers monopolize the academic publishing market,the cost of acquiring academic knowledge is increasing,and phenomena such as "acquisition crisis" and "serials crisis" appear in the academic research field.In order to realize the fairness and justice of information access and build a scientific academic communication system,the concept of open access came into being.With the development of open access movement,open access to academic books as an important knowledge carrier in academic exchanges is gradually becoming a mode of knowledge exchange and dissemination recognized by the academic community.Library is the information resource service center of universities,which plays an important role in academic information exchange and knowledge dissemination.However,the limited procurement funds and high price of literature resources often make it impossible for libraries to improve the perfection of collection construction.Open access academic books not only have high academic value,but also are a new type of free open information resources,which can undoubtedly enrich and improve the construction of collection resources in university libraries.However,there are many sources of open access academic books,scattered on different open access resource platforms.How to choose high-quality open access academic books to improve the construction of university library collection resources has become a research topic worthy of discussion.Therefore,through the comprehensive use of literature research,network research,case analysis and other research methods,this paper conducts an in-depth study on the acquisition of open access academic books in university libraries.Firstly,this paper defines the concepts related to open access academic books and investigates the development of open access academic books.The survey shows that since 2012,open access academic books have entered a stage of rapid development.The number of books continues to increase,involving a wider range of subjects.And in the long-term practice,some relatively successful and widely used open access academic book business models have been formed.A growing number of funding agencies are including open access academic books in their funding,and a growing number of university presses and academic publishers are expanding their commercial footprint to open access books.Open access academic books have formed a new pattern of open access academic book publishing around numerous projects and platforms,supported by numerous funding agencies,publishers and research institutions.Secondly,this paper investigates the current situation of open access academic book acquisition in university libraries at home and abroad.The research shows that domestic university libraries lag behind European and American university libraries in the construction of open access academic books.European and American university libraries are at the international forefront in the construction of open access academic book resources,while most domestic university libraries are still in a state of exploration and follow-up.Although domestic university libraries have paid attention to the value of open access academic book resources,there are problems in the acquisition work,such as insufficient attention and understanding of open access academic book resources,lack of standardized open access academic book acquisition process,and low level of service utilization.Finally,on the basis of expounding the influencing factors and process elements of open access academic books acquisition,this paper constructs an open access academic books acquisition model of " acquisition librarian-subject librarian-book selection,subject librarianreader decision preservation".The number of open access academic books is huge and the contents are deep,and it is difficult to complete the acquisition of open access academic books only by interviewing librarians.The method of subject librarian selecting books together can be adopted,in which the interview librarian and subject librarian decide the list of books to be selected together.The bibliography of open access academic books that needs deep integration and long-term preservation is determined by the graded bibliographic list extracted by subject librarians and reader usage value.In addition,in order to ensure the smooth completion of open access academic books acquisition,it is necessary for university libraries to provide technical and environmental support in many aspects,such as metadata processing,book recommendation,user parameter setting,and long-term resource preservation.To sum up,taking the acquisition of open access academic books as the starting point,on the basis of sorting out and elaborating related concepts and theories,combined with actual work investigation and target analysis,this paper constructs an open access academic book acquisition model.This research is an in-depth exploration of related research on book acquisition.On the one hand,it can enrich the theoretical system of library literature acquisition.On the other hand,it can provide specific references for the library’s open access academic book acquisition work,and speed up the discovery and utilization process of open access academic books.
