Development And Practice Of School-based Chemistry Curriculum Based On Chinese Excellent Traditional Culture

Abstract/Summary:
Chinese excellent traditional culture embodies the most profound spiritual pursuit of Chinese people and is the unique spiritual symbol of the Chinese nation.It has influenced the way of thinking and behaviour of the Chinese people and supported the whole nation through more than 5,000 years,from generation to generation,standing proudly in the world.Ancient Chinese chemistry,as an essential part of that culture,includes ceramics,metallurgy,alchemy,salt and sugar,brewing,color dyeing and other brilliant achievements.The school where the author works--Nanchang No.1 Middle School,carries out a school-running mode featured by Chinese learnings and humanities based on its history and traditions.Now it has gradually formed a development pattern with Chinese learnings and humanities education as the core,humanities as the main line,and multi-disciplinary cross-penetration.Therefore,in order to enhance students’ cultural confidence and highlight the school’s school-running characteristics,it is imperative to develop and implement a school-based chemistry curriculum based on Chinese excellent traditional culture.Through literature research method,this study carries out research on Chinese excellent traditional culture and school-based curriculum development theory.On the basis of this theory,the school-based curriculum of "Achievements in Ancient Chinese Chemistry" is developed.In the process of development,firstly,questionnaire survey is adopted to investigate and analyze the needs of students,secondly,curriculum objectives are established and curriculum content is selected,then appropriate teaching methods are designed based on learning conditions,and finally,a diversified evaluation system is formulated,forming the general idea of school-based curriculum development.After the completion of development,combined with the actual situation of the school and students,the use of action research method to implement school-based curriculum.In the process of implementation,typical teaching cases such as "Visiting Haihunhou Museum","Making Rice Wine","Talking with Song Yingxing" and "Various Drugs used in Alchemy" were designed.It also investigated and analyzed the implementation effect of the school-based course by means of questionnaire survey.It showed that the topic selection,content design,teaching methods and evaluation methods of the school-based course "Achievements in Ancient Chinese Chemistry" were welcomed by students,and helped students to have a new understanding of ancient Chinese chemistry,enhance the sense of identity of traditional Chinese culture,meet the interest and demand for ancient Chinese chemistry.
