The language curriculum reform in the new era emphasises the importance of independent learning,cooperative learning and inquiry learning,advocating that students learn to think independently in the learning process,continuously improve their independent learning ability,and give full play to the spirit of teamwork to jointly explore problems encountered in learning,so as to achieve better learning results.The word "theme" appears 41 times in the General High School Language Curriculum Standards(2017 Edition Revised 2020),which demonstrates the advancement and importance of theme-based teaching.Thematic teaching is a new teaching mode based on independent,collaborative and inquiry learning.The design concept emphasises the integration of teaching content,teaching resources and teaching methods,and focuses on equal dialogue between teachers and students in interaction,so as to better improve the teaching effect.At the same time,the classroom also moves from single to multiple,from rigid to vivid,bringing students’ learning initiative into play and enabling them to complete their learning tasks more effectively,which is undoubtedly a path of exploration and breakthrough to solve the real dilemma of the language curriculum.Nostalgic is an important thematic category in classical poetry,with unique literary characteristics and artistic charm.The proportion of these works in the unified version of the secondary language textbook is a clear indication of the importance attached by the unified version to the return of the classical poetry,and the higher demands placed on the teaching of Nostalgic Poetry.As language textbooks are updated,the teaching of Nostalgic Poetry should keep pace with the call for language curriculum reform,in order to meet the training goals of students in the new era and to implement the overall development of students’ core language literacy.Based on the study of the General High School Language Curriculum Standards(2017 Edition Revised2020),this paper takes the Nostalgic Poetry in the Unified Edition secondary school language textbooks as the object of study and develops an implementation plan for teaching the topic of Nostalgic Poetry poems,using the theory of thematic learning as the theoretical basis.Firstly,in order to clarify the scope of the study,on the basis of collecting,collating and studying a large amount of literature,we define and analyse the concepts of "Nostalgic Poetry" and "thematic teaching",and define the main teaching materials the Nostalgic Poetry in the textbook selections.In addition,the main teaching material the poems in the textbook selection-is summarised and classified as a whole,and its characteristics are summarised.This paper analyses the rationale and value of thematic teaching of Nostalgic Poetry as an important basis for determining whether thematic teaching of Nostalgic Poetry can be used in teaching practice.Starting from three aspects: the requirements of the curriculum standards,the driving force of core literacy,and the tendency of the examination questions,the necessity of implementing thematic teaching of Nostalgic Poetry is explained,and the significant features of thematic teaching of Nostalgic Poetry in terms of teaching contents,teaching process and teaching methods are analysed,and on this basis the teaching value and significance of thematic teaching for students,teachers and curriculum development are discussed.Again,the analysis of the class examples of Nanxiangzi,Niannujiao,and Shuxiang explores the current situation of teaching wistful poetry,and then attempts to summarise the current problems in teaching wistful poetry in terms of teaching objectives,teaching contents and teaching methods,with a view to providing favourable reference for the design of teaching wistful poetry.Finally,on the basis of the theories of thematic language teaching,the basic questions of "what to teach" and "how to teach" are clarified in the light of the analysis of students’ physical and mental development,their level of thinking development and their learning situation,and the implementation strategies of thematic teaching of Nostalgic Poetry are proposed.This will provide a solid foundation for the teaching of the theme of Nostalgic Poetry in both junior and senior secondary levels.
