| In the newly introduced Senior Secondary Language Compilation textbook,a new unit task has been added to the Modern Poetry section,in which students are asked to try their hand at creating poetry. This task is aligned with the ’Reading and Writing Literature’ task group in the new curriculum, which aims to develop students’ ability to use different genres to create literature. However, due to exam-oriented education, modern poetry has not received the attention it deserves in language classes. It is therefore urgent to find an effective way to implement the tasks in the modern poetry unit under the current examination format. As students have little knowledge of modern poetry,it is too difficult for them to work directly on it,so the application of imitation to the teaching of modern poetry is a viable method.Although there is a considerable body of research on the teaching of modern poetry, there is still limited research on strategies for teaching modern poetry parody.Based on available references, this essay focuses on strategies for teaching modern poetry parody in high school. The study is divided into four main sections:The introduction explains the origin of the study around three aspects:the reasons for the cold reception of modern poetry, the relevant requirements of the new curriculum, and the existing ability level of students. After the object of the study has been clarified, the research results are reviewed and analysed from two aspects:the study of imitation and the study of the teaching of imitation in modern poetry. The significance of the topic is then systematically discussed from four perspectives, with a focus on the positive impact that parody will have on the teaching and learning of modern poetry, and finally the research approach chosen for the topic. The first chapter discusses the issues and pedagogical rationale of modern poetry imitation, clarifies the essential connotation of imitation, and explains the theoretical basis of imitation teaching and the practical significance of imitation for students. It is a way of learning to write a piece of writing that is similar in form to a model text, but with a content that is unique to the student’s own personality and ideas. As an early learning method, imitation writing has a strong theoretical foundation, with theories of reading and writing integration, the nearest developmental zone and learning transfer most closely related to this writing method, and is therefore the focus of this theoretical support. The thesis then presents a comprehensive analysis of the pedagogical basis of modern poetry imitation, starting from the comparison of the arrangement of the old and new textbooks, the requirements of the language curriculum standards and the analysis of the arrangement of modern poetry, and demonstrates that imitation of modern poetry is feasible and necessary in current high school language teaching.Chapter 2 investigates the current situation of teaching imitation of modern poetry in high school language at the present stage. The respondents are divided into two parts:teachers and students, and the investigation method is divided into questionnaire survey and teacher interview. The actual investigation shows that there are certain differences in the perceptions of teachers and students in the writing of modern poetry. After analysing the questionnaire data and interview results, the problems in the modern poetry classroom were identified.Through the analysis and generalisation, four causes were eventually sorted out, which pointed to the direction for the proposed and optimised imitation strategies to follow. The third chapter, which is divided into the preparation stage, the teaching stage and the evaluation and feedback stage,is the focus of the whole text. The first is the preparation stage:teachers should prepare lessons from the actual learning situation, identify students’ misunderstandings in modern poetry writing, determine model texts for imitation, pay attention to reading guidance for students, refine the appreciation of key words and phrases, and lay the foundation for students’ imitation writing later on;the second is the teaching stage:teachers should guide students step by step from imitating the external form of poetry to integrating their own emotional expressions in their imitation works. In order to attract students’ interest in learning, teachers should also adopt a variety of imitation methods to enhance the effectiveness of imitation teaching;finally, the feedback and evaluation stage:teachers should establish a more comprehensive evaluation mechanism within the class to protect students’ creative enthusiasm and motivate them to continuously improve their own writing. The concluding section summarises and reflects on the above, reaffirming the importance of the study of modern poetry to students’ growth and development, followed by a review of the strategies proposed in the thesis,as well as reflections on possible shortcomings such as the lack of a wide enough scope of investigation or strategies not adapted to actual teaching, and finally a call for colleagues in the language teaching community to join in the practical application of modern poetry imitation teaching in order to change the current situation of modern poetry teaching and promote the teaching of modern poetry in high schools in a better direction. |
