An Empirical Study On The Impact Of Net Population Outflow On Guangxi’s Economic Development

Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region is the only coastal ethnic minority autonomous region in China,with superior geographical location and abundant natural resources,but its economic development has been relatively backward.At the same time,the accompanying phenomenon of a large outflow of population has attracted people’s attention.Whether the slow economic development of Guangxi in recent years is related to long-term large-scale population outflows deserves in-depth study.Therefore,from an economic perspective,studying the impact of net population outflow on economic development in Guangxi has strong theoretical and practical significance.This article takes the net outflow population of Guangxi as the research object,using the research method of combining theoretical research and empirical analysis,and using historical Guangxi statistical yearbook and national population census data as data sources.The study found that in terms of floating population,the net outflow of population from Guangxi is increasing;The outflow population is characterized by being younger and having a low level of education,with a lower level of occupation after outflow;Economic reasons are the main reason for population outflow.In terms of economic development,Guangxi’s economy is generally stable,but it faces problems such as slower growth,the need to improve its industrial structure,weak investment,and a lagging employment structure.Next,according to the economic growth theory,we construct an economic growth model of net population outflow.The study found that the net outflow of population has a positive effect on the economic development of Guangxi and is mainly achieved through consumption expenditure channels;There are differences in the impact on different industries,which have a positive impact on the primary and secondary industries,but not significantly on the tertiary industry.Finally,this article proposes to retain local talents and attract high-quality talents at home and abroad;Adjust the industrial structure and promote the transfer of surplus labor in the primary industry to the secondary and tertiary industries;Continuously increase the cultivation of the working population and improve the quality of the floating population,thereby gradually reducing the development gap between Guangxi and developed regions,and achieving further sustainable economic development in Guangxi.
