The Relationship Between Fear Of Negative Evaluation,Self-concept Clarity And Meaning In Life Among Junior High School Students And Its Intervention | | Posted on:2024-03-02 | Degree:Master | Type:Thesis | | Country:China | Candidate:Z Y Chen | Full Text:PDF | | GTID:2557307121476424 | Subject:Education | | Abstract/Summary: | PDF Full Text Request | | A sense of meaning in life is an individual’s awareness of the value,purpose,and importance of his or her life,and plays a protective role in an individual’s mental health as a positive psychological quality.Middle school is an important stage for individuals to explore their sense of meaning in life,and the lack of a sense of meaning in life can make middle school students face more serious challenges.With the development of self-awareness junior high school students are increasingly focused on self-image and are prone to an imaginary audience,and will fear negative evaluation of themselves by others to the extent that it affects the construction of a sense of meaning in life.At the same time,self-concept clarity as a positive psychological factor can enhance the individual’s sense of meaning in life.Therefore,this study intends to investigate the relationship between fear of negative evaluation,self-concept clarity,and sense of meaning in life,and further intervene in middle school students’ self-concept clarity through group counseling to enhance middle school students’ sense of meaning in life.This study is divided into two main parts,Study 1 is a status and relationship study,using a questionnaire survey of 835 junior high school students to explore the relationship between fear of negative evaluation,self-concept clarity,and sense of meaning in life,and to examine the mediating role of self-concept clarity between fear of negative evaluation and sense of meaning in life.Study 2 was an intervention study of junior high school students ’ self-concept clarity.30 junior high school students were selected for the study,15 each in the experimental and control groups.Among them,members of the experimental group underwent eight groups counseling interventions,while members of the control group did not undergo relevant interventions in this period and then underwent corresponding group counseling on the end of the study.Based on the analysis of the intervention data,the effectiveness of the intervention activities in enhancing junior high school students ’ sense of meaning in life was explored.The conclusions of this paper are as follows.(1)The level of sense of meaning of life among junior high school students is low.The level of sense of meaning of life of male students is higher than that of female students;the level of sense of meaning of life of class leaders is higher than that of ordinary students;the level of sense of meaning of life of junior high school students is higher than that of junior high school students.(2)Fear of negative evaluation among junior high school students was at a moderate to high level.The level of negative evaluation fear was higher among female students than male students;the level of negative evaluation fear was higher among class leaders than ordinary students;the level of negative evaluation fear was higher among junior high school students than junior high school students and junior high school students.(3)The level of self-concept clarity among junior high school students was low.The level of self-concept clarity of male students was higher than that of female students,and the level of self-concept clarity of first-year students was higher than that of second-year students.(4)There was a significant correlation between fear of negative evaluation,self-concept clarity and sense of meaning in junior high school,and the three could form a mediating model,that is,fear of negative evaluation not only directly predicted junior high school students’ sense of meaning in life,but also influenced junior high school students’ sense of meaning in life through the mediating effect of self-concept clarity.(5)The group counseling program designed in this study on the theme of self-concept clarity was effective in enhancing junior high school students’ self-concept clarity and sense of meaning in life. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | fear of negative evaluation, self-concept clarity, a sense of meaning in life, group intervention | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
